Understated Luxury Meets Pristine Nature
Tierra Chiloé is quite possibly the coolest place you never knew existed. Architecturally stunning, peacefully perched on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and with an undeniable sense of place, arriving here feels like a breath of fresh air and a gentle invitation to slow down. This is a luxury property, no doubt, but the feeling at the hotel is warm and unpretentious, and it has a more intimate atmosphere than the other Tierra lodges. The staff is wonderful, the excursions varied, the infinity pool drool-worthy, and the setting absolutely special. It’s ideal for those looking to disconnect in pristine nature, for wildlife lovers (hello penguins & dolphins!), and for those who value unique, off-the-beaten path place. Room tips: Rooms are spread out in two wings, either with views to the Pullao wetlands or to the Rilán peninsula – pure nature in every direction. The panoramic windows beautifully showcase the surroundings and bring the outdoors in. I personally prefer the Pullao rooms, which are in the newer wing, since they are more updated, brighter and a bit more spacious overall. These are best for families too (a few of them are Suites) since they can connect by an outer sliding door. However, the rooms looking toward the Rilán peninsula, which are in the original wing of the hotel, arguably have better views and you can watch the sunset from the comfort of your own room! Excursions: The excursions from Tierra were absolutely awesome and there is something for every interest. The guides were personable and just plain fun to be around (shout out to Antonia and Javier, who are both amazing!). I did a really cool full-day hike from from Duahatao to Chepu, which ascended through the forest and along the dramatic Pacific coastline, descending on to a beautiful beach, and then ending with a snack at a local’s home. We didn’t pass another soul for hours on end so it felt like our own little paradise! My hiking boots got wet & muddy from this trek but the staff kindly cleaned & dried them and left them by my door, which was a lifesaver and just a testament to the care you can expect here. The next day we sailed on Williche, Tierra’s private boat, which is a real highlight. This took us to further-flung islands not easily accessible on your own, and these are cultural gems and capture the true Chilote essence. Also, a short zodiac ride took us to a spot where we were surrounded by dolphins as we sipped champagne - heaven! I definitely recommend at least three nights here but there's plenty to do for four nights or more.
Paradise in the South of Chile
I want to tell you about the excellent experience lived by my partner and me in February 2020. From the beginning, we were received at the Puerto Montt airport, where they were waiting for us with some snacks. A driver took us after an hour and a half of trip, which includes the passage from Puerto Montt to the island of Chiloe through the sea, we undoubtedly arrived at a place dreamed and full of mysticism. When you arrive at the hotel, you realize its incredible and fantastic landscape !! the architecture of the The hotel does not leave you indifferent, and it blends very well with the fantastic views and beautiful gardens. Attention from the The first moment is of the highest quality. All the staff make you feel at home, and the quality of the all-inclusive system is phenomenal, the first-class liquors and the meals are a delight that we will definitely try again. During our stay, they made a Chilote-style barbecue that was delicious. All our excursions were first class, and we thank every one of you for making us feel in heaven. We stayed for a week, and I think that we could have stayed several more and that we still lacked time. I want to thank Eduardo Angulo, and through him, the entire Tierra Chiloe team for making this experience one of the best in my life. I hope to see you soon.
Superb - stay here and visit the beautiful islands
We stumbled upon this property when travel advisors recommended a visit to Chiloe. Our experience at this property was phenomenal. It is a small hotel with 20 rooms. You are immediately greeted by Eduardo who is the manager of the property. His leadership makes the visit special. You leave feeling as though you have stayed in a favorite relative’s home for the holiday. Every staff (guides, drivers, wait staff, housekeeping, spa, etc.) makes every interaction easy, friendly, and welcoming. The modern property is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and the views even more lovely. The activities offered and included are comprehensive and varied for activity level of the participant. Every activity thoughtfully includes beverages and food. I could go on for pages about every tasty meal, gorgeous site, restful night’s sleep, fun and fulfilling daytime activity or staff member. It would not adequately do justice to the property or our stay at Tierra Chiloe. I would go out of my way to create another opportunity for me to come back here just to experience the hotel again – that is not something I imagined I would ever say as there are too many places in the world to visit and not enough time. My advice – make time for this property. I will also make a review of Tierra Patagonia – equally phenomenal property but different also. My experience at 2 out of their 3 properties has made the Atacama property move to the top of my list for a future adventure!
Sadly we were only here for 4 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. From the moment we were met at the entrance till we said our goodbyes our experience was first class. The view from our very comfortable room was lovely and although the weather was a little uncertain at times we were able to take full advantage of the excursions on offer. These were led by friendly, knowledgable staff who had excellent English. We learnt a lot about the area, it’s flora and fauna, and also enjoyed a full day excursion on the hotel’s boat. This included a very tasty lunch. Talking of food, we were very impressed with the quality of the cuisine. A different three course menu for lunch and dinner each day seemed above and beyond. There was also a cocktail of the day which provided an interesting apéritif. As all food, drink and excursions were included we felt we had excellent value for money - and I haven’t even mentioned the spa where it was lovely to relax. An altogether memorable visit so a big “thank you” to Eduardo and all the staff for their excellent service and friendly manner.
Last year we stayed in Tierra Patagonia so we decided to try a new location this year. Whilst it is different to Patagonia it is amazing - the management and staff are wonderful with fabulous service, a great range of excursions, fabulous food - thanks to Eduardo, Blanca and everyone it was fantastic!
