BEST Moai base camp!
The staff are superb, from the van drivers, the food servers, cooks, management, to the tour escorts. The service was excellent, polite and friendly. The food delicious and prepared with love, passion and creativity. We loved the grilled octopus, fresh salads, fresh raw sashimi, steamed local fish, tender ribeye beef and lamb, and the vanilla coconut ice cream wrapped in a white chocolate shell. Yum! The resort was clean and spacious. The bar was always open with fun music calling you to stop in and grab a whatever! The resort room was clean, well kept and large with huge picture windows with a panoramic view of the sweeping green pasture flowing down to the blue ocean of Rapanui. The tour escorts were mostly native rapanuians but all were passionate about the culture and of course the Moai. Explora has to be the best place to stay and explore Rapa nui and the Moai. You have fresh fruit, eggs, meats, and cereal at 8. Do a 3 hour tour of the most incredible carved stones you may ever see. Return for fresh vegetable salad, pumpkin soup, fresh fish or Argentine ribeye beef, and dessert. Then head out at 3 for another 3 hour tour of another of many moai ahu platforms. Then come back for a 5 star dinner with wonderful conversation. The resort, rooms, and travel vehicles were all well maintained and in very good working order. We don't have one bad thing to say. It was a wonderful experience and a great way to bag a bucket list destination. If we were to return we would definitely stay here again. It was well worth the $$! We also met very interesting people from all over the world. John and Adrian from NY. Kristy from Hong Kong. Alex from the UK. John, Paul, George and Ringo from Taiwan. Sorry we forgot their real names because we were there in May 2019. Anyway, they were fun and fun loving like the fab 4. Anyway, Explora Rapa Nui is the BEST Moai base camp!
Best choice for Easter Island
The Explora is excellent: the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the guides are all local Rapa Nui, the excursions run like clockwork and all the personnel are professional, friendly and very helpful. I have been to Easter Island before and no one does the variety or quality of excursions that the Explora offers. This alone is a compelling reason for staying there. The only improvement I would encourage is a greater variety of choice at meal time and internet in the rooms.
Superb, as you would expect
If you have the budget this must be the best place to stay on the island. High eco and sustainability credentials, great food, and good choice of excursions every day with knowledgeable guides. 3 or 4 nights is the best amount of time, any shorter and you can’t experience what the island has to offer.
5 star adventure
From landing on Easter Island Rapa Nui and welcomed by garlands a 4 course lunch and beautiful Chilean wines we were instantly struck by the beauty of the island and the explora hotel and staff. Attention to detail was amazing and the staff exemplary. After lunch we immediately went on a trip to see the iconic Moai statues and have a picnic celebration of our arrival. The expeditions were led mainly by local people with excellent local knowledge There was always time to plan the next day’s trips a day ahead and all sights were thoroughly covered. The morning activity was well planned with water and snacks insect spray and sun screen. We always returned to a delicious lunch and off again in the afternoon. The breakfast was delicious home made bread and freshly poached eggs. This is an excellent hotel and restaurant with inclusive trips on a magical island of mystery awe and wonder.
Explora Rapa Nui was a great choice for us. The resort is very quiet and somewhat secluded with a great view of the ocean and the oldest volcano on the island. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful and the guide service was professional. We would recommend it highly.
