I wish they did a better job of communicating that excursions didn't need to be booked before arrival. We sorted everything out as we went. Pick up from the airport was effortless. They provided snacks for the long ride and a nice halfway stop at a cute local restaurant/cafe. When you pull up to the hotel, you see how beautifully the hotel is worked into "la tierra". Not some shiny showy luxury hotel but perfectly organically modern and complementary to the landscape. The view from the main common area is breathtaking. We really enjoyed the various seating areas/nooks. Breakfast was a buffet with a made to order menu as well. Lunch and dinner was a 3-course meal. Especially after staying with Tierra properties for 10 days, it became a bit much. Ask for the alternative menu. I dont know that I feel they consistently pulled off the fusion upscale dishes. Sometimes it just felt "forced fancy". Booking excursions was a little stressful but they made it work once asks were made. This wasn't the most relaxing vacation schedule-wise, but incredibly rewarding. The excursions can be long and challenging but thats what you came for! Really appreciated the safari-style snacks and drinks. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The spa was so beautiful. I was surprised by the quality of the deep tissue massages. The excursions are private but in small groups of 4 to 6. Happy hour is a fun time because everyone's getting back from their excursions and mingles drinking and eating apps. They do a great job of bringing luxury to the middle of nowhere. Companies like Eleven Experience are top-notch in these sorts of luxury outdoor experiences but Tierra came close.
Best hotel at the edge of the world!
The hotel is literally at the edge of the world as it is located at the very south end of Cile. It is around 4 hours drive from Punta Anrenas airport which itself is 3.5 hours flight from Santiago (the capital of Cile). At first we were nervous whether we made the right decision by celebrating the year end in this hotel. We've been planning our trip to Torres national park (and this hotel) for almost a year and it was totally paid off! The hotel is all inclusive so you don't need to worry about airport pick-up, food, etc. Pros: 1. The hotel is located inside Torres national park and is facing a lake with mountainous landscape in the background. Super pristine! 2. The design of the hotel itself is unique. It is made of wood, looks quite traditional inside but futuristic outside. It has so many wide windows which allow you to enjoy the majestic views of the lake and mountains. You can get beautiful views from restaurants, and even indoor swimming pool 3. We stayed in standard rooms with bathtub overlooking the window and the views behind it. As mentioned earlier, the hotel is all-inclusive and that includes everything in the minibar (except the alcoholic items). The room is super cozy and the bed is perhaps the best hotel bed ever. Interior is minimalistic but warm. Once you enter you r room, you wouldn't want to leave it 4. The excursion is something not to be missed! The guides are all amazing, genuinely friendly, thoughtful and knowledeable. There are so many wild animals on naked-eye sights like sheeps, horses, and even lynx/ wild cat 5. The food served for any occasions are simply delicious and comforting. It is complemented by warm service from the hotel staff and the beautiful view from outside the windows Cons: 1. Service can be a bit slow. Maybe because it was high season This is a type of hotel that you should stay at least 1x in your lifetime. Yes it is expensive but itworth every penny. It was an exprience you will not find somewhere else. From now on, we declare ourselves as Tierra hotels fan and will try to visit the other Tierra hotels soon! Thank you Tierra team!
Top 5 Resort of all time
We've been to 65+ countries and this resort is definitely Top 5. The location can't be beat, the staff were incredibly friendly, the excursions were great, the food was beautifully prepared and tasty. We appreciated everything this property had to offer. We recommend the yoga and spa after long hiking days - definitely helps with the recovery!
Outstanding place, Five Stars all around
From the moment u arrive, u are received with smiles and care. The property is architecturally stunning and you will never get tired of the views. All rooms are identical and with the same view; they are well-appointed and very comfortable. But, the real difference is the quality of service, and it starts at the top, the hotel manager Nicholas.
Can't wait to return
Our family of 6 (with 4 adult children) visited Tierra Patagonia in December and (along with her sister resort at Tierra Atacama) we had one of the best holidays ever. As others have noted, not cheap but worth every penny. Everything was seamless from the time you are picked up, the transfers, the guides, the meals, all accompanied with the most friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely warm service one can wish for. Nicholas is the perfect welcoming host and leads his entire team with aplomb. We were very fortunate that 6 of us formed our own group and had Felipe as our guide every day. Felipe was outstanding, from his good humour, knowledge of the fauna and flora to ensuring that my wife, who is gluten intolerant, had gluten free treats on every hike. Natasha in the restaurant was the perfect attentive server and the only complaint is that we could not resist the 3 course meals at lunch and dinner (not to mention the terrific Patagonian beer and wine) and consumed far too much of the outstanding fare on offer. We saw guanacos, condors, skunks and most exciting of all pumas. The spring flowers were very pretty but Felipe made us promise to return in Autumn to view the spectacular Autumn colours and we can't wait...
