Excellent job marrying adventure & comfort!
Patagonia Camp does an excellent job marrying adventure & comfort in their glamping style luxury yurts. I felt close to nature in the yurt, but protected from the at times harsh elements of Patagonia. It was wonderful to return from a day of hiking to an excellent meal and a glass of wine. Patagonia Camp was perfect for that. I also loved the flexibility to be able to choose excursions each day based on the weather. When we had our best weather day, we were able to do our most difficult full day hike, and when we woke up to a snowy morning (we went in the shoulder season, but the snow was beautiful!) we were able to do a shorter hike. There’s a fantastic one to a waterfall right on their property which was absolutely magical in the snow. They do generally require 2 yurts to open an excursion, so just make sure if you do have a specific hike or excursion you want to do during your stay, that you express that on the first day when you arrive & discuss your excursion preferences with the guides. With that, they were good about making sure it was offered for some day, working with the weather & other guests as well. The views from the yurts are spectacular, especially at sunrise & sunset, and you can see the horns in the distance. The food & wine experience was wonderful as well. On one evening they prepared amazing shaved lamb, slow cooking in a traditional gaucho style. I recommend upgrading to the deluxe yurt with jacuzzi. The price difference isn’t huge, and sitting in the private jacuzzi of your yurt after an adventurous day of exploring the park is a highlight. A few others at the property were only staying for 3 nights, but I highly recommend a 4-night stay. Depending on the flight schedules, if you’re coming from Punta Arenas the transfer is over 4 hours, so your in & out day are mostly lost to the transportation time. 4 nights leaves you time for 3 full days of excursions, which feels perfect. If you’re traveling during the high season, many days there are flights to Puerto Natales as well, so check that as an option too which is just 2 hours from the lodge. I had a wonderful stay & look forward to returning some day with more of my family!
Magical Place in a Magical Setting
A lovely mix of luxury and attentive service in a rustic setting. Its position is superb with views across the turquoise Lake Toro to the Park. Excursions are well planned and the guides are informative. You can choose a hike to suit your capabilities. The food is really good and wine and cocktails and beer are included. Only premium brands have to be paid for. The staff are all very friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. The beds are very comfortable but at times the howling Patagonian wind keeps you awake. Watching the stars and the moon through the window in the roof of the yurt is fantastic. The yurts are VERY comfortable and cosy too. If you can book a yurt with its own private jacuzzi it is very special to look over to the Park from your hot tub. This was our second visit we love it so much!
