Great hotel - a destination in itself
We stayed here with another couple about two weeks ago - in fact just before the announcement of the South African lockdown. The hotel is simply fantastic, with wonderful little touches to spoil and delight us throughout our stay. We had dinner in the hotel one night, which was great and highly recommended; we had great fun in the bar with friendly and welcoming staff, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful - serving both cold buffet and hotel made-to-order dishes. We also used the spa - highly recommended and well priced. All said, this is a great spot, a wonderful get-away from Cape Town and the hotel is special, comfortable, clean, well thought through, welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.
Peace in the countryside
When you arrive you feel like it is in an oasis of calm. The staff are professional without formality and there is something truly charming to have the warmth of the provincial friendliness that brings a smile to your face. We had booked a room in the manor but received an unexpected complimentary upgrade to a Pool Suite. Having experienced this, I would recommend you push the budget out for this room. The decadence of walking straight off your private patio, overlooking the beautiful garden, into the pool is fun 😃. The toiletries offered and the “bubbles” on arrival are all part of the small things that make a big difference. The tiny cake in a cloche at night next to you bed is a surprise. The village of Robertson itself is unremarkable and it is the surrounding wine farms that are of interest. Our only negative, and it is one of personal taste, is the restaurant is “supervised” by a chef from Franschhoek who is known for his “foraging” style. There are other restaurants recommended by the hotel if this is not your thing!
Thank You for a Great Stay
Stayed in a Pool Suite for three nights. Absolutely calm and lovely. I can't add anything to what has previously been said - would just be repeating fellow travellers. A wonderful place to relax and do nothing. The Wellness Spa is first rate and is well worth having a treatment. Thank you for a great stay and we have no hesitation whatsever in recommending The Robertson Small Hotel.
Fabulous retreat in wine country
We could not have loved the Robertson Small Hotel more! Warm and wonderful staff, absolutely fantastic food, a luxurious room and an overall peaceful retreat. Great spa services as well! We only stayed for two nights - I wish we had stayed longer!
Fabulous stay in stylish hotel
This small boutique hotel provides luxury accommodation and has an excellent restaurant. We were only staying one night but were made to feel very much at home as soon as we arrived. I would gladly had stayed here for a few nights but we were touring the garden route and our plans could not be changed. We had manor house room 5 which was beautifully decorated, a comfortable bed, and reading lights either side of our bed. We had a huge bathroom with a double sink, roll top bath and separate shower. Outside our ground floor room was one of two pools and the splendid gardens which are well tended. There is a cacti area with seating, a large greased area with shrubs and palms. Dinner was excellent and our breakfast was taken outside in the sunshine. There ample choice even without a cooked breakfast. Simply first class, thank you to all the staff for making this such a lovely staff. If you are staying in the area look no further than the Small Robertson Hotel
