A little gem !
A very well presented hotel in the heart of the town. Beautiful well maintained gardens and pool area (Pool unheated and bracing in spring). Rooms beautiful but the ones closer to the main road suffer a little from road noise due to all traffic coming up the main street which the hotel is on. Not noticeable for most of the time but at night some larger trucks were noticeable. Food was excellent with staff being very good and attentive. Art galleries' are every where in the town work and the hotel is no exception , having some interesting paintings (look for the ghosts !) and sculpture.
Warm and Outstanding service at the Leeu Spa
Well done to the Leeu Spa staff ( Rochelle my therapist, Alida, Coleen and Bronwyn) who were on duty On Monday (26/04/21). Ladies you made my stay warm and very comfortable. Thank you for your patience, please carry on making every woman that walks in through your doors feel as special as you made me feel. Stay Blessed Pearl
A wonderful, flawless stay. Would rate a 6 if possible.
This was one of the best hotel stays we have ever experienced. From being greeted at the hotel entrance by wonderful staff - at every single touch point, this hotel has nailed personalisation and welcoming feel. All staff, from senior managers to the gardeners were very friendly, smiley and genuine. Our room was lovely, we had a private terrace, with a comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom with couples' sink. The grounds are immaculately kept, with manicured gardens and beautiful sculptures. Leeu offer a complimentary shuttle service to their Estate property where guests can use the excellent spa and gym facilities, with pools at both the House and the Estate. They also have a private car service anywhere within a reasonable distance from the House. This was perfect for wine tasting and restaurant visits. Make sure you do their wine tasting on the estate - Leeu's wines are some of the best in South Africa.
Great Hotel, Great Location
This is the perfect location to stay while in Franschhoek. Situated on the main road it’s within 10-15 minutes walk to pretty much everything located in the town itself. The grounds, rooms and artwork are stunning and are immaculately presented. Breakfast was excellent, it was lovely to sit outside in the garden area to enjoy. Staff were very efficient at booking restaurants and the complimentary shuttle service was an added bonus plus the drivers were very personable. The only thing that could be slightly improved upon is that the staff other than the drivers weren’t as personable as they could have been and a more informal atmosphere would be beneficial.
Exceptional service and location in the heart of Franschhoek
A small boutique hotel, with exceptional service, Leeu house is located in the heart of Franschhoek, just a short walk away from some world class restaurants where we had outstanding meals. The staff at Leeu house go above and beyond to provide exceptional service and little touches like fresh flowers and complimentary wine and hand made snacks in the room were very much appreciated. There are just a few rooms and a nice sized pool and garden for relaxing in after a day of wine tasting. The breakfast was included and was outstanding with the best croissants and pastries outside of Paris. Their freshly squeezed juices were delicious and they had a wide choice of cooked options from waffles served with berries, to avo toast to eggs Benedict. There is a complimentary transfer to their sister property Leeu Estates, which in my opinion is an even more wonderful place to stay if you want a little more space and endless views of the surrounding valley. As a guest of Leeu House there is a complimentary wine tasting at the Mullineux & Leeu Wine Studio which was great. Of the 6 wines we tried, my favourites were their Mullieneux Old vines white as well as their award winning Leeu Passant Chardonnay, which had a depth and character that was remarkable. As guest of Leeu house you can make use of both properties and the gym and spa are both located at the Estates. Leeu House has free bikes for guests to use, so we rode bikes between the two properties passing by many beautiful vineyards (such as Mont Rochelle owned by Richard Branson).
