A short Safari on an amazing location
Garonga is one the camps on the Grand Makalali conservation area. A most excellent arrangement to get a big expanse of terrain for the animals And he camp itself is situated on a river bend with a great views of the water holes that attract the most amazing and iconic of the African wildlife. Garonga has worked a successful program to integrate Buffalo and Wild dog and we were privilege to see both of these species on the wild Also managed to get to see most of “the big five” but leopard is such an elusive animal and our time was short A truly paradise of nature we need to get to preserve and the beat way is to support and visit to keep these camps and conservation areas alive
Just outstanding Game viewing in a great setting
We split our visit with 3 nights in Little Garonga and 2 nights in the camp. This is our second visit and it fully matched our memory . Staff are a delight and cannot do more for you . Food is very good and loads of it . Accomodation is good without being extravagent which you would expect on Safari . Little Garonga is 3 houses all air conditioned with its own Lounge / Dining building and pool . Tents are solid wall on 3 sides with good bathrooms but no a/c . Surprisingly that didn't prove to be a problem . Large Lounge/Dining Building with a massive deck and fantastic views.
Got married there this year on Valentines Day and what a beautiful experience the team created. Between Bernie, Tammy and the old bull - Johnson, they made both the day and the trip fantastic. The camp is extremely efficiently run with a very welcoming feel. There are three houses at Little Garonga and ours was spotless. Food excellent and pretty much everything inclusive. Food was superb. The drives were great fun. They have the big 5 now the Cape Buffalo have arrived and we saw all bar the elusive leopard! Watch out for the breakfast wind up. Our wedding 20 minutes out in the bush was magical- the weather helped! The decorated transport to the remote location with the white ribbons on the “Black Mafia” truck was superb. The delicious cake, the use of the lodge all to ourselves that night decorated with candles (we wanted just the two of us) the kudu wedding feast, together with the bush bath made it a day when absolutely nothing went wrong and nothing more could have been done! Massive thanks to all the team! 😘
Loved our stay at Garonga Safari Camp. The facilities are outstanding, the service is top notch, the safaris were great and our tracker and driver Johnson and Phineas were brilliant - we got to see all the animals we wanted to see, they went above and beyond to make sure we did. The extras were also fantastic, the bush bath is a wonderful experience, and the massage was also very good. Would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a fantastic safari experience.
Everything was just perfect! Starting from the booking process, all the communication was fast! I got all questions answered quick, our pick up time was quickly adjusted as one of the flights was very delayed. The staff of safari camp were the best, service was really perfect thanks to Tammy and Aldran, all the food was delicious (I am a pescatarian and they prepared really good meals personal for me). Every single weekday they have different specials menu for breakfast. You can mix your own drinks or get a bartender to make good coctails. We celebrated my partners birthday during our stay and chef made a special cake for him. To make sure that we are safe around area during evenings a security person would always walk together with us. We got laundry done for free. Our tent room was spotless clean. From the terrace in the tent we saw animals in the bush coming really close to the camp. Every day we had 2 game drives and I was amazed how good the guide Keizer and tracker Gladstone were! We saw around 20 lions, 40 elephants, 7 rhinos, around 10 hipos, 3 cheetahs, many many giraffes, buffalos, zebras, kudus, empalas and many more animals during 6 game drives. They took us deep in a bush driving off rode to bring us as close as possible to the animals. During every drive we would stop and get drinks and snacks. We tried a star bath which was a nice experience to bath outside at night under the stars. I am really happy that I chosen this safari camp for the holiday and I would recommend it to everyone!
