The most perfect engagement
We had the most perfect engagement and it was all thanks to the team at Castello, especially Sheila. My fiancé looked for the perfect, intimate engagement setting and when he contacted Castello as an option they immediately sprang into action and offered to help in any way they could. Sheila organized a face to face meeting with my fiancé and the planning began. They helped create the most perfect moment and was always willing to help even with last minute plans and details. They helped keep it a secret by pretending not to know my fiancé when we arrived. I had no clue what was about to happen. Even though there was a kitchen tea down stairs our moment was intimate and they did not miss a beat with anything. Mike proposed at the top of the bell tower with a 360 degree view of Pretoria. Sheila organized a platter and champagne for us and thought of every detail as there was even a little cushion on which Mike could place his knee so that his pants would not get dirty. We then had a private three course meal on our room's balcony whilst the sun set. The food was exceptional! The staff was incredibly friendly and ensured there were petals, fairy lights and a lit fire during our dinner. The room was beautiful and spacious with every facility you could need. The team put rose petals on our bed and folded the towels as swans. The breakfast was magnificent. I would recommend Castello for any special occasion. Thank you team.
Worst place I ever stayed at.
Woke up midnite to find someone in your room in Sourh Africa is no joke. Person had a key to enter our room and lock the door again when he left the room as we woke up. It took us a while to get our door keys that fell on the floor in the dark. We phoned all the available numbers - nobody answered. Even the security guard at the gate, could not get hold of the owner / management. The television did not work. Have to move furniture to get hold of plugs to charge our phones and my wifes hair dryer. The aircon could not be put off, due to the remote not working and no plug to put it off.
After having stayed at Castello di Monte two years ago, we stayed there again for one night . Apparently ownership changed and everything was in one word: shocking. When we arrived, it was clear they had no record of our reservation. They fumbled around, asked my surname, asked for proof of payment, etc. They then hastily typed up a welcoming letter that we received after we have been in the room for a while. It was also clear the room had not been prepared for anyone's arrival. Amongst many other things, the telephone was missing, room fridge not even plugged in. Service on the terrace was appalling and similarly in their restaurant. Our orders came out wrong twice, with breakfast we asked for another menu but never received it. We were never offered any juices at breakfast, bread or even coffee. Sadly, this was not the case before and the whole establishment deteriorated dramatically.
Castello di Monte is located in very beautiful surroundings. Quiet and peaceful. You can walk around the area. The accommodation itself was a beautiful Tuscan villa. The room was large and the bathroom even bigger. We had been upgraded to the wedding suite which was fantastic. (we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary) Amazingly friendly staff. Beautiful room but a bit dark, there was no ceiling lighting. A little shame that this beautiful room was overlooking a parking lot! It should have had a balcony / terrace. The breakfast and dinner were perfectly ok but not wow.
Everything is magical from the moment you arrive! The security guard is friendly and informed. He handles the check in process after showing you your room. The staff are very helpful and not permanently up your ally. Just there for assistance when required. Room is spacious and access is easy. Breakfast is served with a view over Pretoria and the breakfast itself is satisfying, again with outstanding service. Outstanding!
