What an amazing hotel and experience
We recently visited Plettenberg Bay for a few days of holiday and had made the decision to book four nights at The Plettenberg Hotel. Oh goodness, we were so happy we decided to book there, as we had the MOST amazing stay! Probably one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in and we have traveled all over the world. Everything about this hotel ticks all the boxes. From the minute you get out your car and are greeted by the friendly security detail, to meeting the very welcoming and warm receptionist, you feel like you are in a world of old-fashioned charm and serenity. All the staff we encountered on our trip were amazing, with the manager, MJ, a breath of fresh-air and a bundle of energy and enthusiasm. The room itself, with a sea-view, was absolutely stunning. Very spacious, spotlessly clean (and serviced twice a day) with a super-comfortable king size bed and amazing pillows. The bathroom was lovely, with a beautiful rain shower. The mini-bar was complimentary and refreshed daily. The views from not only our room, but the hotel itself, are simply spectacular. We've been to Plett many times, but we fell in love with the town all over again, due to having such an amazing place to stay. The Lookout pub is within walking distance of the hotel, as is the little village. Ah, we simply can't wait to go back one day! I love, love, love this hotel.
Like everyone else in ZA, the Plettenberg Hotel is coping with the uncertainties of COVID. However, the individual service provided by this hotel is still first-rate. The current curfew complicated our check-in, and the general manager met us personally at breakfast the next day to ensure our expectations were met. This is an operation that pays attention to detail, and it shows. We’re looking forward to many return stays amongst the incomparable beauty of this property.
Best Pet-Friendly Place in Plett
Jaxx, my Siberian Husky, and I agree that The Plettenberg is the best pet-friendly place in Plettenberg Bay. Room 12, the luxury sea-facing double room where we stayed is spacious – just the way a Husky likes it. The room has an enclosed balcony that leads out to the guest pool. And real grass to lie on! And some not-so-real grass on the roof terrace. The Plettenberg provides dog bowls laid out on a special mat, along with a dog bed, and a jar of dog biscuits! In season, they have “yappy hour” for all the dogs to get together and socialise. Nine of their thirty-seven rooms are allocated as pet-friendly, including two private villas. The Beach House villa has 150m2 of space in a fully fenced garden with its own pool, two en-suite bedrooms, a large sitting room with fireplace, a dining room, and a fully equipped service kitchen. Lookout Villa has 190m2 of space, and three en-suite bedrooms with enclosed garden. So, now there’s no excuse for any pet lover to leave their pets in a kennel when they holiday in Plett!
Beautiful location, right by the ocean, attentive, friendly and professional staff. Got a nice room upgrade with the pool and ocean view- we only stayed for 1 night but room was elegantly decorated, complimentary snacks in the mini bar. walking distance to the beach. the staff made a huge effort on the breakfast and dinner and tastefully presented. However I will just mention that some of the dinner choices were not available and also not made to our satisfaction :)
Must go back Hotel
How lucky are we that we could stay with our dogs in the beautiful Plettenberg Hotel. The staff was warm and welcoming; the sea views (with whales!) were breathtaking, with delicious food and the beach within walking distance. Thank you for making our stay memorable. We are looking forward to our next visit!
