Luxurious tented facilities with great staff and amazing wildlife sightings!
We are absolutely thrilled with our two night stay in Thanda Tented Camp as it offers luxurious accommodation with a bush themed feel and great experiences on game drives and during free time exploring the main restaurant and reception area. The staff are so welcoming and friendly especially guide Peace, tracker Zeblon and restaurant manager Lucas. We had fabulous game drives and spotted 4/5 of the big 5. Our meals were well accommodated for especially as I am a vegetarian and the chefs were consistently aiming to please with varied meal options that were delicious and nutritious. I highly recommend this reserve as they make it your home away from home. Well done, Thanda 👏
I was here for 3 nights. This place was absolutely amazing, from the camp staff to the Guide and tracker they were there to make your stay as close to perfection as possible. My tent was simply perfect and the short walk from the tent to the main area a delight with Impala resting in the under growth a few metres away as you passed by. The food dishes during my stay were varied and top quality and always served by someone with a smiling face and there was always a cold beer or wine on hand should you want it, included in the package. And sundowners on the afternoon Game Drive were absolutely sublime making the end of a day perfect. My guide and tracker were very at the top of their game. And we did have some wonderful sightings. However Thanda seemed to me to have a very Limited amount of Wildlife. And whilst I totally understand one cannot be guaranteed sightings this park definitely does not have an abundance of Wildlife it advertises. No leopards, Hyenas,Cheetah were found this I found very disappointing. If this is your 1st Safari you will enjoy this place if your main priority is Wildlife other than Impala and the softer animals you will not. So in conclusion the camp itself and the staff was perfect. But the wildlife was not.
Very disappointing management- unable to communicate effectively with guests during inconvenience
Definitely not a Leading Hotel of the World !! Property not maintained The Rangers and Restaurant staff were fantastic -pity no management in sight It seems the Lodge and Villa are given preference and the Tented Guests are the poorer cousins Unprofessional and incapable of accepting their shortcomings. Stayed in 2 other properties in SA during the same trip where guests were treated well
Excellent sightings, food and a gorgeous rustic chic African safari
We have stayed at the tented camp twice. We unfortunately had a couple water issues during both our stays, however the sightings and overall weekend was such a treat, we quickly forgot about the chilly shower. Bronwyn and the reservations team are an absolute dream to deal with, and on every visit we have celebrated something special (anniversary, birthday and the next trip is also a birthday) and the staff go out of their way to make it that much more special! The Chef always accommodates my dietary requirement of no red meat with a smile on his face, and goes out of his way for me (unexpectedly). Each and every meal is an absolute taste sensation. Sabelo our Ranger, we have had twice, and his tracker Madid are the kindest most hospitable men with an incredible knowledge for the bush and the reserve (Sabelo has been there 17yrs if I am not mistaken). We are looking forward to our third visit to this camp, since May 2021.
Luxury in the Wild
This was my first time at the tented campus. I stayed at the lodge 2 years ago. The tents over exceeded my expectations. The beds are heavenly. You sleep in peace as the iNyala and other game walk by happily. The privacy is well respected by staff who warn by whistling as they approach your tent in case you're not aware. The views are magical, sunrise to sunsets. My room was so spacious and fully equipped for my stay including an outdoor shower which I liked to jump into in the mornings. They take great care with food. You are well fed throughout the day, snacks and a coffee stop when you go for the game drives in the mornings and evenings. The guides are knowledgeable and spot the game from a mile. Majority of the staff are locals so it feels good to know that the lodge is empowering the community it is located in. So, save up and treat your self to this amazing majestic experience!
