We stopped for breakfast at the Winchester and since we had our small dog with us they told us to sit on the veranda outside.. We didn't mind but the rain started and we were not offered a seat inside so we had to leave as we were getting wet..Very disappointed as we are certain that they could have made an alternative plan to assist us from getting wet and to continue with our breakfast.
Lovely stay, wonderful memories
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Winchester. The newly decorated rooms are lovely and spacious with beautiful fittings. The spaces are welcoming and very comfortable. Service all round was fantastic. Only negative is that the patio was sparsely furnished, a reading lamp, rug and side table would have fitted in and made the room look less bare. Perfect location, across from the stunning promenade and within walking distance to some lovely restaurants. I will definitely be back to visit.
Great spot for a snack on a busy summers day
We loved the availability on a hot day. It was dog friendly which is great. superb style and elegance. The meals seem affordable until you realize that a steak roll at premium price comes without fries. The steak roll and beef ribs were excellent. The extra side of chips was terrible as was much as it felt wrong to have to add that as an extra. Even fast food places make better chips. Lets get real management thee chips do no deserve to be added onto the meal cost. And if it was 50% better than todays quality, it would still have been hard to swallow. Other whise good place for sundowners. Well Done!
An elegant stop-in that's, so far, worth your time.
It’s not just the bellhop’s holding up the fort on good hospitality; Reception was particularly beyond reproach. ---------- Harvey’s Bar, Shoreditch House restaurant, Winchester Hotel‘s courtyard, and most particularly, its poolside, is a gem fit for any digital nomad. And Argue with me if you will, but incredibly, the absolute marvel of my Shoreditch House visits was the Root vegetable dish. Definitely give it a try! The drinks situation though, is somewhat in flux. ---------- I’ll not forget The Winchester Hotel quick. And I doubt whether any who hear about the hotel, visit it, or even pass by, will forget it soon too. With blended decor styles perfectly in symmetry with the hotel’s history, the indulgent cosmopolitan city and the scenic promenade, The Winchester Hotel has made its stand. It looks good. Its food tastes even better. You sleep well. Your travels are grander. ------------ If I had to quantify value for money in 2021s travel economy, and at this particular property, you get your money’s worth in the following: > The price of a nights stay in a refurbished luxury seaside hotel in an idyllic Cape Town neighbourhood, being between R2 360 – R3 950 depending on a room > A stay inclusive of Breakfast > Excellent hygiene protocols in line with global heath and tourism-board standards > A beautifully tiled bathroom redone by SOURCE Interior Architecture, complete with burnished golden-hued shower and stand-alone bathtub metal finishings > The unfettered access to a comfortable, exclusive, and chic poolside > Complimentary by-the-hour, on the hour transfer to the V&A Waterfront mall (upon request) > Close proximity to the glitzy waterfront shopping and lifestyle hub etc.
has been refurbished and it is wonderful good meal appalling service
it is gorgeous. the menu is interesting and many items are quite good . the waiters all look confused and we spent most of the meal chasing items and not being followed adequately quite a shame . we told the manager on the way out. won't be back for some time
