Best hotel in Cape Town
The Silo Hotel is more expensive than most hotels in Cape Town but there’s a reason why this is the case. The location, the esthetics, the space plan, the room size, and the service all combine to make the value worth the price. Quite simply, it’s worth it. The hotel is a safe short walk to the heart of the V&A waterfront. The hotel has a sexy modern design. The rooms are comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and the shower water pressure is strong. The room had plenty of free items in the complimentary mini bar and there was always fresh fruit in the room. The service level is exceptional, particularly with the staff serving breakfast. In addition to warm breakfast options, each breakfast starts out with pasties, fruit, yoghurt, smoked salmon, and more. Their coffee is great. They make wonderful cocktails in the evening and their wine list is really strong, providing options for all price ranges. The Silo Hotel is a world class hotel. 5 stars.
We phoned on Friday around 5pm to ask if they were open and to make a reservation. The lady who answered said they open till 10pm but only accept walk-ins. So we got there around 6:30pm and the gentleman at the front desk asked if we had a booking, Isaid no and explained to him that I called earlier. All if a sudden this young lady who I pressume was the manager on duty, came in and said that I was wrong, and they do take bookings. I said I called and I was told differently, she interrupted me and cut me off saying I was lucky someone answered my call as they were helping out and that I misunderstood the person on the phone. I was totally shocked, she was rude and abrasive and completely unprofessional. In the hospitality industry you are supposed to be polite, helpful and welcoming. She was none of that. It totally ruined the start to my evening. I would suggest that all staff get a training refresh about how to treat guests that are coming to spend money there, it was a very bad impression of the hotel, especially seeing how impeccable the hotel is, the staffs etiquette and manners should surely match the standards of the hotel. It will be a while before we.come back and spend our money there. Experience is everything and makes a lasting impression that you tell others about.
Unwelcoming Front Office & Poor Guest Service Skills At Rooftop Pool Bar
I visited the Silo Hotel Today to see if the hotel's rooftop bar would be a good place for sundowners and a light meal. I had very high expectations of the Silo Hotel, but here is why I didn't stay for drinks and why won't return there. 1. The front office team didn't greet me or even smile at me when I entered the hotel. This is really bad for a hotel of this stature. They weren't friendly or even half eager to help me with my enquiries. 2. I visited the rooftop pool bar area and was greeted by one of the servers there. Then as I asked to look at the menu, where the bar is, can I browse the area, etc, the server cut me off from speaking, said to me "stand there" or "go there" because he is busy. Then proceeded to talk to his colleague for 5minutes while I wait and still did not help me with any of my enquiries. I work in the hospitality industry and I've worked with a number of 5star hotels, 15star Hotels, Relais & Chateaux's, and Forbes 5star rated properties around the world. I am very disappointed in the level of service I received here in the short amount of time I visited and I felt like I could not get out of this hotel quick enough.
The most unique hotel in Cape Town
There are a number of hotels in Cape Town, but none as unique and luxurious as the Silo Hotel. The decor, art, room finishes, high ceilings, windows (yes, windows!), views of Cape Town, staff and location make the Silo as memorable and unique a hotel as you’ll find anywhere in the world. It truly is world class and the ultimate luxury when it comes to hotels. If you can, book one of their suites (or ask nicely and you might get luck with a room upgrade) so that you can truly experience all the luxuries this hotel as to offer.
