Luxurious. Intimate. Relaxing.
Luxurious. Intimate. Relaxing. These are a few ways that I would describe my recent stay at The Barracks Hotel. We recently had the immense pleasure of celebrating my mother’s birthday over a two-night stay at The Barracks Hotel, in what has been the most relaxing stay we have had this year. Even before our arrival, the Front Office Manager: Tono was in touch with us and had provided a great deal of pre arrival assistance. He truly provided a genuine level of service from heart from the very beginning. He had taken note of all our preferences and had gone above and beyond in his assistance to us. Check in was a smooth and seamless affair. We were pleasantly surprised when the security at the carpark entrance recognised us and wished my mother a happy birthday. It was a mark, of good things to come indeed. We were then smoothly checked in by Jeremy, who offered us a warm welcome and made sure we were well acquainted with the property and the inclusions of our stay. He then personally escorted us to our rooms and gave us a tour of it. The beauty, and charm of The Barracks Hotel is the intimate setting that it is in. Consisting of two colonial era “Barracks” that have been tastefully and beautifully restored into this absolute gem that is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of The World. What I absolutely love about this property is how private, intimate, and far away it feels (while being only a 5mins walk away from Imbiah Station). It was really nice to pretend for a while that we were far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and to be surrounded by the trees and charming colonial buildings. One thing I would implore everyone to do, is to book a room with pool access. These rooms although small compared to other luxury properties, come well equipped and are tastefully furnished. The main feature of course, is the ability to jump into the pool from the back of your room as and when you wish. We spent a great deal of time in the pool and the private jacuzzi during our stay. The beds are extremely comfortable indeed, and we had two nights of blissful sleep in them. The Atkinsons bath amenities were amazing, and we found ourselves showering more then necessary after each swim to enjoy the bath gel even more. The minibar comes with non-alcoholic beverages that are complimentary along with a Nespresso machine and two special tea blends (green sencha and black) made especially for Barracks. The service rendered by the front office team was particularly commendable indeed, and I feel that they are the true stars and pillars of the Barracks Hotel. Tono runs a fabulous team of professional, friendly, and caring individuals who constantly went above and beyond to care for us. Jun Seng was always there with a smile and particularly surprised us when he offered us ice cream from across the pool when we were enjoying the jacuzzi. Rashidin was ever pleasant, and accommodated my initial late check out request, with great professionalism. Farez was also always present with a smile as well, did an amazing job in ferrying us from the hotel to Panamericana and back in the hotels private Jeep. Special shout out also goes to Suhailah and Andy, as well as all the other amazing individuals whose name I may have regrettably left out. Barracks Hotel; functions in the same way as private hotel lounges do; which means to stay that your stay comes with breakfast, complimentary refreshments throughout the day, and an evening cocktail hour. Do yourself a favour; and make the time to relax in The Living Room. It has an extremely intimate and homely feel and we always enjoyed popping in for coffee and tea at intervals throughout our stay. The cocktail hour is phenomenal (more for the drinks then the food itself). The cocktails are AMAZING, and I would especially recommend the Barracks Spritz and Whiskey Sour (all included during the cocktail hour). They are extremely well balanced and pack a true military punch (probably an apt nod to the soldiers who once graced its halls). The breakfast had a wide variety too, and one gets to choose between Asian and Western menus, with orders being taken a day before. We of course were spoiled rotten by the service team at The Living Room, with spectacular superstars in their team. Their level of service was commendable, and they remembered not only us, but all our individual coffee orders too! Special shout out goes to Melvin, who was pleasant and showed genuine care and concern to us throughout our stay. To Gavin, who took note of all our special needs and was always willing to go the extra mile. As well as to Emily who was always on hand to lend us a helping hand and to make our experience ever more delightful. All in all, it truly was a remarkable stay at The Barracks Hotel, and we can not wait to be back and relaxing in the pool and sipping on a Barracks Spritz again!
Excellent service, good food, clean n quiet. Very peaceful n relaxing environment. Good breakfast n evening cocktail. Convenient location, 5mins walk to both Imbiah Station n bus-stop. A few good restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.
A dreamy staycation
I've been in Singapore for almost 5 years and stayed at a lot of hotels during my time here - none of them compare to The Barracks Hotel. The service and attentiveness of the staff is beyond brilliant and not once was overpowering or annoying. Everything about our stay was pristine - from the hotel decor, the staff and service, the drinks and food - just every little bit of our trip was perfection. From bringing us daily mini magnum ice-creams in the pool, to glass of champagne and biodegradable beautiful floral arrangements made from wood, the team at The Barracks have thought of absolutely everything. The entire stay was effortless and peaceful - which was exactly what we were after. I cannot recommend highly enough and I will be going back without a shadow of a doubt. The most fantastic staycation and the biggest thank you to all the staff for making it a wonderful getaway!
What a gem!
If you are looking for a place to truly relax with the best service and setting, look no further, The Barracks will deliver on cleanliness, beautiful building and pool (no pool booking required, no maximum time spent during Phase 2 of Covid), delicious breakfast, impeccable service and comfortable rooms! We stayed 2 nights and left incredible happy and relaxed. We strongly recommend The Barracks and hope everyone will enjoy as much as we did. Special shout out to Melvin who has been so attentive to us and made our stay even more enjoyable!
This hotel is luxuriously small, but the service of its staff is impeccably huge. Kudos to Joel, Emily, and Melvin, who took care of our family dietary needs, and served us wholeheartedly. The green lawn in front of the hotel has a calming effect, which makes staying here tranquil and lovely. Great work, staff!
