Find intimate service and romantic old-school charm at these former island army barracks
Following a meticulous restoration on a 20th-Century military outpost, this upscale hotel is Far East Hospitality's latest luxury property on Sentosa Island. Opening in late 2019, the former site of the Blakang Mati Artillery Barracks has been completely transformed into a five-star heritage hotel near Palawan Beach. A trendy display of old-school luxury and historical preservation, the hotel will be an exclusive hideaway on Sentosa – where contemporary mod-cons sit perfectly in tune with colonial-era buildings and a timeless charm.
A modern take on the colonial heritage of the hotel's buildings, all of the 40 rooms and suites are decked out in an old-school luxe style. The décor is clean and stylish, with lots of space and intricate details throughout. Furnished with a patio or balcony, Premier Rooms add a separate bathtub and walk-in shower to the elegant marbled bathooms. On the ground floor, the Suites are much larger and include direct access to The Barrack's exclusive swimming pool and Jacuzzi. All rooms include the use of a complimentary minibar, plus access to the hotel's private lounge for all-day refreshments – head here early evening to make the most of complimentary cocktails in the hotel's happy hour.
Guests at The Barracks can use the shared facilities at the neighbouring Village Hotel at Sentosa. At its heart you'll find the sprawling Pool Deck where four different pool experiences cater to guests of all ages. Chase sunset ocean views with a lounge by the Pamukkale Pool or have a chat and sunbathe on a private island pod in the hotel's Adventure Pool.
