A magic carpet on the ground
This high-end Marriott is a Persian-inspired oasis..with a lobby punctuated by filagreed arches, splashing fountains and palms. With comfortable seating throughout. Behind this..a sprawling lawn with more fountains and palms, a large swimming pool..all thanks to desalinated water (since it rarely rains here)..and a stunning view across the harbor to Doha's brand-new high rise center. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The main dining room for both breakfast (buffet and a la carte) and dinner is lovely..but the food is pretty good..nothing more. Try the separate Parisa Persian restaurant at the other end of the lawn..which is excellent. Service is very good..but not excellent, in part, because the staff is almost 100% expat..from Bhutan, Spain, Krygistan, Tunisia, Morocco, and more..not Qatari..thus lacking cohesion. Apparently mid-March through September brings brutally hot temperatures and humidity..so avoid these months.
Should you be in Doha, staying here is a must. The design is breath taking and all the staff really go the extra mile to help make your stay memorable. The buffet meals have a diverse selection of delicious food and the rooms are large and well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar. The magnificent bathroom contains both bath and shower. There are two main pools, both large and superbly landscaped, and also well heated. Gardens are also immaculate. All in all, a truly superb hotel!
Pool and beach: superb.
Qatar has so many hotels with so many facilities. After trying a few pools and beaches we ended up at Sharq. What it makes a places is the staff and at the Sharq can’t be better. The people that runs the beach and pool, with a big special shout out to Anura and Abbas are just amazing. They looked after of us like no one, specially of our little daughter. We felt safe and sound at all time while our baby run all over the places. Hard work pays off guys. Thank you Anura, Abbas and the rest of the staff, you guys make this hotel what it is: superb.
Fantastic hotel, staffed by wonderful people.
Hotel is immaculate, extremely comfortable and staffed by really nice, friendly people. From the reception desk staff (so patient with my room requests) to the restaurant servers and managers (thank you Samia for your concern!), the guys that serviced my room (to immaculate standards), Natalia and Aldin in the cafe/bar (for taking the time to say hi and have a bit of a chat), the guys on the main door and those around the pool (who always have a big smile for you and make you feel really looked after), everyone was brilliant! Facilities are great, location is too. Would absolutely recommend the place, and the people, whatever the reason for your visit
Excellent two night stay over in Doha
In the past I only transitted in Doha. This February I decided to stay on with my friend at the wonderful Sharq Village - a Ritz Carlton Hotel. The GM Bardia and his entire team were so wonderful and kind to us. The Breakfast service and buffet is world class, the leisure facilities top notch as well. We so enjoyed our dinner at the Persian restaurant which was truly exceptional. The concierge was wonderful and organized a super private and fun desert tour. This was probably the highlight of our stay. The location of the hotel is close to the airport and also the major museums. The hotel has a private, unique feel and I highly suggest any travellers to Doha to choose Sharq Village! Thank you to all the wonderful Ritz Carlton staff for having looked after us so well.
