Kuoni extends its partnership with Mind
- Team commit to raising £40,000 total for charity partner
- More than £20,000 raised to date from staff fundraising
- Supporting staff wellbeing will continue to be a focus
Having raised more than £20,000 for mental health charity Mind, Kuoni has confirmed it will continue to partner with the charity for a further two years.
The company has set its new fundraising target at £40,000 – with the aim of raising another £20,000 by the end of December 2023.
From bake sales to sponsored walks and team challenges to running events, the Kuoni team aim to pull together a diverse and creative programme of activity which people throughout the company can get involved in.
In addition, Kuoni plans to work with Mind to share its advice and expertise internally. People at all levels within the organisation will be supported to stay informed about mental health and how to support someone who might be struggling.
Derek Jones, CEO, DER Touristik UK, said: “Our team nominated Mind as the charity partner they wished to support and it’s been brilliant to see everyone get behind it. With the support of Mind, we’ve opened up the conversation about mental health internally and it’s essential that we keep that going and keep people talking.
“We’ve achieved a huge amount in two years, given all that we’ve been through in the travel industry and the fact that many fundraising events were cancelled. But we haven’t let that stop us and we’ve found innovative ways to raise much-needed funds. We’re now on a mission to double what we’ve already raised for a great cause – but we also intend to have some fun along the way. This isn’t about corporate donations, it’s about coming together as a team to do all we can to think about mental health, get people talking and taking part in something everyone can feel proud of.”
Charlotte Porter, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Mind said: “We’re so thankful to Kuoni for their support over the past two years. We’ve loved seeing members of the team who have gone out of their way to step outside of their comfort zone to take on challenges such as climbing Snowdon and an around the world bake off to fight for mental health. A massive well done to everyone involved. We can’t thank you enough for your support!
“The pandemic has had a devastating effect on the nation’s mental health, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems, and it is vital that everyone has access to the right support, advice and information when they need it. The money raised by Kuoni, will enable us to continue to provide support so that no one has to face their mental health problem alone.”
Kuoni’s brand ambassador Simon Reeve spoke recently at a customer event hosted for Kuoni customers about his own mental health and encouraged people to talk and donate.
