Vidago Palace Hotel

Aristocratic ambience and sparkling amenities

A lavish salmon-pink palace with excellent spa and golf facilities, set in 250 acres of woodland.

With its fairytale atmosphere and magnificently modern spa, Vidago Palace Hotel is all Belle Époque style gone contemporary. Saunter down sweeping staircases, wander through whimsical woodlands and dine under triple-height ceilings in The Grand Ballroom. The 18-hole championship golf course comes with gorgeous views and an outdoor pool sits beneath the trees.

Why we love Vidago Palace Hotel

  • Tackle sluggish circulation with the spa’s mineral-rich water treatments and ice rubs.

  • The decadent Grand Ballroom restaurant with a menu inspired by Northern Portugal.

  • Tapas style and local traditional food in the Wine Cellar for a more casual place to eat.

  • Kids are pampered with their own spa treatments, playroom and big outdoor park.

The glittering Grand Ballroom is now the hotel’s gourmet restaurant, where a fine-dining spin transforms traditional dishes from northern Portugal. More low-key dining takes place at the Winter Ballroom (the hotel’s breakfast room) and the contemporary Club House.

Winter Garden
The large skylight creates the feel of a historical winter garden conservatory. There are quiet spots to sit and read and sip coffee, and generous buffet spreads of pastries, fruit and hot food.

Grand Ballroom
The hotel’s gourmet restaurant is housed in the Grand Ballroom – a majestic space with a high ceiling, golden wallpaper and crystal chandeliers.

Club House
A modern restaurant that serves classic Portuguese food and is popular with golfers.

The Four Seasons Room
Designed in the style of a literary salon, with a plush décor of bold velvets, comfy cushions and curved sofas. This is the hub of the hotel where guests gather to chat.

Pool Bar
There’s an outdoor bar for refreshing drinks and light snacks.

Wine Cellar
Head here for wine and tapas.

The menu at Grand Ballroom puts a fine-dining spin on traditional dishes from northern Portugal.

The hotel’s most modern addition is a large all-white-marble thermal spa wing. The local area is known for its underground hot springs and the spa uses its mineral-rich waters. As well as luxury treatment rooms, you’ll find indoor and outdoor pools, a steam room and sauna.

Take part in a game of padel or tennis or explore the region on foot, mountain bike or horse back. Make sure you spend some time in the hotel gardens where paths meander through the trees and between the lakes.

The 18-hole golf course is GEO certified and in 2019 received a special award from IAGTO for its minimal impact design.

The Kids' Club Jerónimo takes care of 3 to 16 year olds with a range of games and educational activities. There's a swimming pool, playground and plenty of nature to explore.

There's an 18-hole par-72 golf course that’s set among ancient trees and has views over the hills to charming villages. There's also a 340 metre driving range and a golf academy for practice.
