Quinta da Casa Branca
Quinta da Casa Branca is set in exquisite botanical gardens with a large banana plantation, and has been a member of The Small Luxury Hotels of the World for more than a decade. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, the award-winning glass architecture integrates beautifully into the natural environment and highlights the wonderful garden views. This charming hotel dates back to the mid-19th Century when the renowned wine-producing Leacock family first planted the gardens, and it’s a refreshing alternative to more modern hotels.
Spend an afternoon enjoying a revitalising spa treatment, or just wandering the superb gardens. Nestled amongst pretty bougainvillea, you’ll find the freshwater pool and the elegant Garden Pavilion restaurant; it was built using glass, wood and green marble, and is a peaceful spot for buffet breakfast, à la carte lunch and afternoon tea. The Manor House is at the front of the property, with six luxurious suites and The Dining Room; it has an al fresco terrace where you can indulge in delicious à la carte and table d’hôte meals for dinner. There’s also Casa da Quinta Bar & Restaurant, a great spot for a more informal bistro dinner.
Twin Garden View Rooms are on the ground floor with a terrace opening onto the gardens. Double Premium Rooms have a balcony or terrace and marble bathroom with separate bathtub and walk-in shower. There are two luxurious Suites in the main building with a more spacious balcony, separate living room and whirlpool bath. The six Manor House Suites are in the elegant Manor House building, which has antique furniture, paintings and tapestries from the owners’ private collection. Each of these has been individually decorated with different architecture and has a lounge and balcony or terrace.
