Loved Every Minute
We stayed at this gorgeous hotel for 5 nights and it was definitely worth the 14 day quarantine that we had to endure on our return. The hotel is in a perfect location close to the beach and centre of Cascais where there are some wonderful restaurants. The hotel is very stylish and well presented and under current circumstances we were very impressed with the hygiene standards that were put in place. Every single member of staff wore a mask even outside. Our bedroom was modern, bright & very spacious with the biggest bed we had ever seen ! The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. A special mention to Chris - The Real Experience Manager who was particularly attentive and went out of his way to ensure that everyone was happy. In addition the hotel reception staff were very professional and could not do enough to help & assist us. We can’t wait to return again next year. Love this hotel - A million stars
Nothing was too much trouble
We have just spent an enjoyable week at this hotel. The staff were excellent and the food and facilities were great. It’s in a great location overlooking the sea, a short distance from the interesting sites, bars restaurants in the centre of Cascais. We would recommend it.
Pleasant stay in Cascais
Overall enjoyable visit with small things to improve. Just reopened due to corona situation there were small restart issues with restaurant and room service. Despite of corona we felt safe at all times. Well maintained property in excellent location.
This is our fourth stay at this hotel in Cascais, we first came in 2011. We were due to visit at the end of May but Covid-19 put an end to that adventure. We’ve split out loyalties between here and the newer InterContinental in Estoril. The Grande Real is definitely more of a “resort” hotel and has much more outdoor space and a much larger pool that never fails to be “bracing” even if its been in the hot sun all day long. Yes, this is a Leading Hotel of the World and yes this is a genuine 5 Star property however it’s not stuffy nor pretentious (my two pet hates). You can immediately relax and enjoy the quality without feeling you should a) have worn a dinner suit poolside and b) brought your wealth advisor to fund a round of drinks. The staff, like almost every Portuguese person I’ve ever met, are genuinely warm and friendly. It’s a short haul trip for us to get to Portugal and staying at a hotel that’s immediately familiar helps maximise the time and the R&R benefit. Breakfast buffet is splendid but watch out for the Portuguese custard tarts. Nothing wrong with them apart from the time required in the “bracing” pool to work them off...
We booked this hotel last minute to get a quick getaway to Portugal. From the second we arrived we were impressed. Amazing staff throughout the hotel. Nothing was too much for the staff. Do not agree with some reviews below stating it does not feel like a 5 star hotel, this hotel is luxurious throughout and is well worth the money. We had room service on our first evening and the food was to die for. Also the pool lunch we had was delicious. Definitely recommend paying extra for a room looking out to the pool and sea view. Thank you so much to everyone at GRV hotel & spa for making our trip so memorable. Special thank you to Ricardo for being so accommodating and kind. We miss you already. Cannot wait to return.
