Terrible Service at an average hotel
Worst 5* hotel I've even been. Its a good 3 star at best. Arrived the night before a wedding. (5pm) told there is no iron and ironing board available and the laundry service starts at 9am. Terrible service and no solution offered. After a complaint to the manager they said at 9am the next day they could do a special express service. I did the express service for 1 hour and the shirts were still creased. I complained again and they eventually sent an iron and no ironing board to my room. So I had to iron my shirt on the bedside table. Additionally when I checked into this overrated hotel I paid for the premium 'pool view room' where I was placed on the ground floor and could not really see the pool. I've attached a photo. Trying to check out they were under staffed on reception and the queues were crazy and creating a crowd of people with no social distancing. I left my key at reception and didn't check out, assuming they will charge me the €10 to iron my own shirts. Both of these trivial incidents are small attention to details that actual 5* rated hotels do not overlook. Vida Mar has zero customer service skills. They will not try to solve problems or go the extra mile. The night before I arrived I stayed at the NAU Salgados Dunas Suites next door for 1 night. It was pure class, friendly helpful staff incredible accommodation and actually cheaper!
We really enjoyed our stay - spacious room, helpful staff (Nueza, who was always on duty at breakfast,is one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met - massive thank you to her for her hospitality), good selection of food for breakfast and dinner (especially considering Covid restrictions and how this had to be managed). You are 100m away from a gorgeous and seemingly quiet beach. The pool is enormous and there are 2 smaller kids' pools. Loads of loungers and umbrellas. We hired a car so could get around as otherwise it could feel a little secluded (if you arent wanting to be at the resort 24/7) and maybe this is a British thing but I wasnt a fan of the frosted glass bathroom door but they seem to be everywhere in Europe! But would recommend the resort for couples and families.
With five-star staff, a perfect location for those who like the beach, ideal pools for those who are younger and older. Before our check-in I read here some comments that today I confirm that are not honest or fair. For them I have only two conclusions, either they never entered in the Hotel or it is even a matter of demanding above what is expected for a five star hotel. I will be back without no doubts! Thank you in my name and in the name of my family!
Low quality for a 5star hotel, COVID is just not a good enough excuse
Been a guest for almost 10 years. This year the hotel has cut costs steeply in dinner and restaurant service. Not good enough for a 5 star hotel, and covid cannot be the excuse. We have spent some time in Spain this summer and the hotel there handled covid restrictions much, much better.
Amazing Hotel & Staff some disgusting Guests
Been in the hotel from 2nd July until 12th. Location is awesome, huge facilites and and amazing garden and seaview. Most of the staff is very helpful and you feel that the are willing to everything possible for you, despite all the changes that everyone was submited to. Daniel Dias (Restaurantes managers) is a 5 star asset. At the breakfast you have Rita, Susana, Neuza, and Cassandre that are rock stars. Pool restaurant, Jorge, Fabio and Tiago and the chefs are also rock stars. We've also been in Mar Club, an adult only space with heated pool, and Ricardo, Carla and Emanuel take good care of us. Lots of fun out there! We have not be able to memorize all the names, but we have seen couple of gentleman that must but the managers, always present everywhere, breakfast, pool, dinner and reception. Felt warm and safe wich nowadays seems to be most important. The food is good and there is plenty of option. Saw couple of clients complaining, but hard to understand especially on these difficult times! A small under: There are some guest that are arrogant, disrepectufl, and seem able to create a constant problem to the staff or even to other clients, like us. (Please stay at home and don't ruin everyone else vacations) Hugo
