Lovely hotel great location
Beautiful hotel but the rooms could do with an update! The reception area is so modern but the rooms are so dated. The buffet breakfast was nice but the croissants were very dry. Lots of options and choice, the Madeira cake was delicious! The pool area was clean and tidy but the staff who serve snacks by the pool were very miserable especially the female workers. The main strip and Oura beach was only a 10 minute taxi ride away and cost 10 euros. There was near by shops, pubs and restaurants and the hotel has a beach (which I think is 150 steps down).
Excellent Hotel and facilities
We were not disappointed on arrival, the hotel was spotless and views of the beach from various viewpoints, with comfortable seating, were everything you could wish for. The steps down to the beach are fine but you need to be in peak fitness for the climb back up, which meant we only made it down there once, but the areas around the hotel giving fabulous vistas, more than made up for this. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have experienced, supper buffet was of equal standard. All staff are extremely friendly and helpful , my only real complaint was being served a G&T outside in a cardboard cup ! I am no snob but this was just awful. Having said that we will happily return for another holiday here, in the near future, to enjoy the friendly hospitality and beautiful location.
Fantastic hotel - spotlessly clean, lovely friendly staff, great location and stunning views. Our little sanctuary for 8 nights. We loved the view from our balcony (sea view room is an absolute must) and falling asleep with the doors open listening to the waves crashing on the shore. Breakfast is fantastic; we particularly enjoyed the freshly squeezed OJ and made to order omelettes. Poolside snack bar is pricey (14.40€ for 2 iced coffees) and we felt the cocktails in the bar were a little underwhelming compared to others you can enjoy in local bars. Special mention to the gent who we watched meticulously lining up the sun beds every evening and ensuring the pool was spotless everyday. A hen party arrived the morning of our last day, their voices dominated the hotel - we were surprised to learn the hotel accepts large groups as it’s so relaxing and quiet - perfect for couples. We too would prefer no kids - I don’t think the hotel is particularly child friendly, which is a good thing! We booked a dolphin spotting boat trip from Albufeira with Allboat - it was fantastic. We visited Loulé which is a beautiful little town with cobbled streets, lovely shops and places to eat. Vilamoura is also worth a visit. If you have a hire car, drive to Praia do Carvalho beach in Lagoa - it’s a tiny secret beach only accessible through a tunnel dug into the cliff. There are some great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel - highly recommend Restaurante Duarte and Glory’s. Cabana bar is the place to go for a Bloody Mary with some added peri peri spice! We’d love to return to PortoBay Falésia one day - the thoughtful touches and attention to detail make this hotel top notch!
First stay in Portugal
Lovely hotel staff very helpful. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. 125 steps down to the beach which was clean and tidy. Pool very clean and plenty of sunbeds. Plenty of reasonable price restaurants near the hotel .
As we came to rest and during night the temperature in room was warm. We couldn't sleep. They should lower the temp from 19 to 17 degree. complaint number of times. Hotel should think about this . Most of the tourist had to keep their balcony doors open during night.
