Now under Marriott Management. Unable to deliver a luxury experience
We have previously stayed at Pine Cliffs more than twenty times. Obviously we love the location and the beach. The accommodation is excellent. This was our first visit under Marriott management. Sadly it was extremely disappointing. Our visit was in early April prior to the Easter rush. I have waited until now to post this review as we had raised our concerns with our tour operator Sovereign and the hotel. They requested a month to investigate. The resort is vast. During our stay there were a huge amount of guests. However the hotel considers this out of season. In the evening there was only one restaurant open and the Corda Cafe. It was nigh on impossible to secure a reservation at either of these despite having previously paid for half board. Surely having accepted so many bookings the hotel must provide adequate facilities to accommodate everyone. The queue for breakfast was usually 45 mins to an hour. Breakfast was then a scramble and certainly no observation of COVID protocol. The golf course is completely overwhelmed. We routinely waited for a shuttle to take us to the only facilities open for 45 minutes and on several occasions for more than hour. We contacted our tour operator Sovereign for assistance twice during our stay to no avail. The Marriott management did not contact us at all. On our return the response has been unsatisfactory. The current Marriott management must ensure that a luxury experience is delivered. Certainly our holiday was truly disappointing. Having given our tour operator Sovereign and the current Marriott management the opportunity to restore our faith in Pine Cliffs we are not convinced. We certainly do not currently recommend this hotel.
Most incredible resort on the Algarve coast!
My friend and I absolutely loved this resort on the Algarve Coast, it faces directly on the beach (it has its private beach, easily accessible by a lift), the staff is very nice and attentive, especially the people working at La Corda Restaurant in the resort. We enjoyed this place despite the terrible weather conditions when we went (mid March), which means we have now an excuse to go back in the future on a sunnier weather. Cannot wait to visit again!
Tranquil setting in a busy stretch of the Algarve
A two-night stay here was a pleasant interlude on a week's drive exploring Portugal. The hotel upgraded us to a two-story suite, with a balcony, a terrace and a full bath on each floor. Everything was spotless and up to date. The landscape here is special - Pine Cliffs is not just a borrowed moniker but a real description of a beautiful setting, up above the sea. On a mid-May Saturday, the generous expanse of pine-shaded lawn was as inviting a retreat as I could imagine in Europe. It was still just a bit too cold to swim, but we enjoyed a great lunch in the hotel's beachfront restaurant, an elevator ride and boardwalk stroll away, Slight gripe: The cushions were a little slippery on the chaise lounges.
A stay you won't forget!
What a beautiful resort it is. The resort is super huge and everywhere you go there's something beautiful to see. The staff is the most friendly staff I've experienced in The Algarve and the food at the restaurants is delicious. Hotel and pools are clean, which is super important to me. Sun beds were comfortable and there are enough beach umbrellas. Worth every penny and I would definitely recommend this hotel!
Amazing couple stay, beautiful beach
We stayed at Pine Cliffs for a few nights and I must say that it felt like paradise! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the resort has a wide beautiful green area where we could lay down and just relax (with an amazing sea view!). There is special access to the beach, through an elevator - in my opinion one of the best beaches in Algarve. Watching the sunset, either at the beach or at the hotel's bar on the cliffs (Mirador), is an experience not to miss! Incredibly beautiful. Also, the food is excellent, including the breakfast, which has a lot of options. The restaurant Maré has also amazing fresh fish, drinks and a rooftop terrace to enjoy the sun! We particularly liked the whole aesthetic of the hotel, including the stunning gardens with beautiful flowers. There are no flaws to point out :)
