Dream Intimate Wedding
This is a review of my event experience (Wedding) in Shangri-La Mactan. My wife and I are pleased, impressed, and thankful that we chose Shangri-La Mactan Ocean Pavilion for our wedding reception and availed of the Wedding Package, which was the best decision ever since we made most of the service 360 degrees, all things covered. We highly recommend getting their Wedding Package for anyone getting married and plans to have it in Shangri-La Mactan. We both like how accommodating from the inquiry to booking or confirmation of the event to the event's week to check-in up until check-out. Everything was perfect for us and we like how you customized some of the things for us. Mara Liboro has helped and assisted us from the start after Elyn Dabon Ramses referred me to her. It was effortless, very smooth, and convenient for working with her. We like how she is always straight to the point and immediately responds to my queries, including email, SMS, or phone call. The good thing about it is that I am also familiar with how Shangri-La Events work, so it was too easy for me. We synced that we only had lesser emails and SMS before the week of the event since everything was already in place, thanks to Mara. One of the things that make Shangri-La Mactan unique for us is the feeling of being safe whenever we are in the hotel. The Shangri-La Cares initiative is very impressive, especially when my wife is in the medical field, being a doctor. We always feel safe whenever we are here, especially during the pandemic, which we wanted it to be for our wedding guests to feel. The safety protocols were strictly followed on the resort's end. Being the couple, we felt safe for our guests during the lunch reception. Plus, all suppliers are strictly required to submit a document or clearance that they are all safe and cleared. I would like to highly commend Mara Liboro and her team for the exemplary service to us from the start up until check-out. We would also like to commend the front office staff, specifically Saira Legaspi, who assisted us upon arrival and our booking when we were at the lobby and helping me with the concierge on my packages on where it needs to be sent at the specific venues within Shangri-La Mactan. To Maam Veronika, the front office manager as well. Great job to all of them! We left one coin that was part of our "aras" or "wedding coins" at the hotel. I am thankful that the housekeeping team found it, and Maam Maetet kept it on her ID sleeve up until I got it after two days. I was immediately informed of it when the manager-on-duty found it. We would also like to commend our wedding butler, Gretchen. She was also the best butler we have experienced and helped my wife throughout the wedding day. She was also on point whenever we have requested and remembers all the details of us. She made things easy for us, most especially physically, as my wife needed a lot of assistance at the resort during the wedding day. Thanks again so much, Shangri-La Mactan team, for being a part of our lives and making our wedding day and stay one of the best experiences we had.

We booked a Ocean Wing Panorama Suite for a few days over Christmas with the following inclusions, as per their advertised package: *Ocean Club and Suite Room paying guests be entitled to the benefits:- -In-Room check-in and express check-out -Round trip airport shuttle transfers -Unlimited use of snorkel and kayak for two -Exclusive choice of breakfast venue either at the Ocean Lounge or Acqua Restaurant -Exclusive access to the Ocean Wing pool -Ocean Club Lounge access for all day beverages, evening cocktails and canapés -Families with kids may enjoy a special family-friendly cocktail reception at the poolside of Acqua from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. daily -Regular adults-only cocktail hour at the Ocean Club Lounge will be held simultaneously at 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. daily. -Complimentary access to Water Pavilion of CHI, The Spa for adults -In-Room DVD player Unfortunately by the time we arrived at the hotel, Shangri-La had ‘changed’ their offering and had only communicated some of the changes to us ahead of our arrival, the remainder we discovered while we were there.... The headline changes (all downgrades in their offering) were as follows: Breakfast for Ocean Wing Guests was no longer in Acqua. Rather we had to have our breakfast in Tides with Main Wing guests Cocktails and canapés were served, but instead of being 2 hours, this had been cut to 1 hour. Also you are now restricted to having only one serving of canapés, whereas previously food was unlimited. *Drinks were still ‘free flowing’ The Ocean Wing pool is now open to all guests, and as such gets busy, especially for the loungers with parasols. The Water Pavilion at Chi the Spa is closed, and obviously has been for some time, as the pool is half empty and the remaining water is green. We know this as we went there to avoid the crowded Ocean Wing pool.... So in short the exclusivity that Ocean Wing guests are paying for, has largely been taken away, which is unfair on us paying guests, who don’t mind paying extra for this, and also for the staff who have to try (and fail) to justify these obvious downgrades in service offering. On top of this some areas of the hotel are looking old and tired, which was disappointing as the Ocean Wing was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, giving ample opportunity to renovate these areas. This being said, the Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa is still a good hotel, it’s just not as great as it used to be. The Covid-19 safety protocols are really good and ensure guests feel safe in the resort. The staff are very well trained and patient with guests who have complants, as we did.
A true 5-star experience
We stayed 3D 2N for the weekend and it was such a wonderful experience. It was a very smooth check in. The front office staff did their best and gave an excellent first impression. James assisted us in checking in. He was very prompt knowing that we are a family of 3 adults with 2 kids and 1 4mos old baby making sure that we have a pleasant stay or if our room has enough space for us. Leo answered most of my inquiries every time I walked by in the desk. From restaurant reservations to hotel facilities. He took our room number and tried to help us in booking our dinner. Jay Medija also from FO did his best to make sure our short vacation wis worth the experience. He suggested where to dine, kids activities - feeding of fishes, we wouldn’t know or might missed it that there’s an activity like that if Jay didn’t told us in the first place. He knew that one of our kids is celebrating birthday. We had a birthday cake at the room when we arrived. Veronica is such a pleasant person and made us feel welcomed. I feel so bad i accidentally spilled coffee in one of the carpets in the lobby. Most of the time we are at the beach or at the pool. Like literally the whole day, usually from 9am to closing time of pool/beach. The kids loved the pool so much. The lifeguards at the pool were so friendly and made sure that everyone is safe and well accommodated. They even offer us towels wherever we go. I think that’s not part of their job but they go above and beyond. We made friends with them and have casual chat every time we hangout at the pool esp those pool staff in Ocean Wing. Pool staff and lifeguards are so underrated and i think they deserve a recognition for ensuring guests’ safety. I have to mention something though, We had our birthday dinner at the Tea of Spring. We didn’t really know what to order. Elizabeth one of the waiters in TOS, suggested some dishes that we should try. Everything we ordered was her suggestions and that was actually a great decision. That Wok-Fried Australian Beef Tenderloin in Black Pepper and Merlot is heaven. The meat was so tender it melts in your mouth. If you are looking for an Umami taste, the food in Tea of Spring has a lot in it. That flavor is something very hard to achieved. Kudos to the chefs of TOS! Elizabeth attended our table very often checking us if everything is okay and poured us tea. She politely insisted that she’ll pour it herself. That’s a wow experience. We had a great dining experience. Overall service was great not to mention the amazing facilities the resort can offer considering our stay was in the middle of pandemic. The staff made a difference and the reason I made this review.
Had some drinks made by Klerk and so far the best drinks ever. Very engaging and highly recommend him! He made us drink beyond our expectations. We were treated very well. He listens to what we actually wants and makes it better. We highly recommend him.
Marine Sanctuary at its best
Our family enjoyed our stay at mactan shang. Though at the time we check in the kids pool was not open we didnt mind at all because the kids enjoyed swimming in the beach. It was a perfect weather when we went there it was not to hot nor too cold. The kids love swimming in the beach with the fishes of different species from their marine sanctuary to explore and for their amazement. And to add more joy from our stay our kiddos and my husband availed of the free marine sanctuary tour and there the kids felt heaven. Staff very friendly. Rooms clean and comfy. We also love the food during our free breakfast. A memorable stay indeed!
