Beautiful and fun - a real gem of a hotel!
The all-inclusive package is well-conceived and the hotel is both beautiful and comfortable. There are tons of little extras in the room - free snacks and drinks that we were happy to sample, and the food in the restaurants was delicious. The excursions were great, and the star-gazing talk was fascinating. Definitely worth the cost!!!
Outstanding visit to Lake Titicaca
Titilaka lodge on the shore of Lake Titicaca is a great place to relax, enjoy good food and drink, and to explore a bit of the lake. Our expedition planner/guide was outstanding. One day, we went to one of the floating reed villages and then to an earth island in the middle of the lake, where we hiked up to the top and had a great lunch. The next day we had a visit to archeological sites nearby and a canoe venture through the reeds to see birds. Food, drinks and service at the lodge are great.
Disappointing birthday treat
This is quite a bumpy drive out of Puno passing by very typically Peruvian farms and lush allotments nestled along Lake Titicaca. The relais chateaux is set high up on promontory in a delightful setting. The views are magical and the hotel is modern in design and creative interiors add style . We were very disappointed with the food! We had asparagus as a starter and then they produced more again with the next course. We had a very fatty belly of pork in a very sweet membrillio sauce, which we could not eat. The chocolate mousse was again too sweet, however the cheese cake was perfection. Sadly, there was a lack of management to address our issues. We booked this lunch to celebrate a birthday and left disappointed with another expensive bumpy ride back to Puno. This hotel does not qualify for the Relais & Chateaux food brand given our previous experiences of 40 years, worldwide!
Magnificent Lake Titicaca lodge
They are doing everything right at Titilaka - service, food, activities and the incredible transfers from Juliaca airport with oxygen on board. Yes, they check your blood oxygen levels on the beautiful transfer vehicle on route to the hotel, and oxygen is available anytime through your stay, even on their beautiful boats. My friend and I attempted a champagne for New Years Eve, and having just arrived from sea level soon needed oxygen with our blood levels down to the mid 60s. We were fine after that but stuck to the non-alcoholic welcome drinks to bring in the New Year. They had a lovely ceremony of writing your new year wishes on a paper boat and sailing it off on to the lake. There was also a bonfire and cultural dance performance but this only happens on NYE. We chose to do it the next day in our way to the floating island. Our day trip there was fantastic as was the village lunch later. It’s quite surreal to be in a place like this. I’d suggest doing Machu Picchu first if you go by train, or if your walking the trail this would be a perfect place to acclimate to the altitude since it is at 13000ft and MP is only 8000ft. Thank you Titilaka. We loved our stay. Wish it was for longer
Lake Titicaca, Puno
Excellent trip to lake Titicaca. Visited the floating island of Uros. The tour guides, Lucero and Walter, did a great job coordinating the visit to the island of Uros. They were the subject matter experts during our short trip to the island. Walter had all the answers and he spoke very good english. Lucero went step further and took us from Casa Andina to the Airport, next morning and stopped at one more site to take pictures before going to the Airport. I will highly recommend Lucero and Walter, as your tour guides to other travelers without a doubt.
