Beautiful hotel that needs details be attended
We spent four nights at this beautiful hotel. When we arrived, there were three porters that were avoiding carrying our luggage. Despite being a Bomvoy member, my room keys were given after the 3 pm scheduled time. The ground-floor double room with a view of the garden was big and comfy, and had a terrific view. The room was not carrying the coffee maker and water boiler as promised, and I have to request them. The two swimming pools are big and well maintained. The room was very clean, but cleaning services were not that good the following days. Buffet breakfasts and foods are excellent,but although there are three restaurants for lunch an dinner, there is not a big assortment of dishes.
Lovely Place to Stay between Nazca Lines and Ballestas Islands
We were part of a tour group and our layover between the two tours was this hotel. An amazing hotel that is a hidden jewel and a real find for anybody wanting to relax after a full day. The rooms were clean and fresh and the ammenties plentiful. They have a large swimming pool outside that is lit where one can gather for drinks or just watching the lights. They also have a gate leading to the beach and into the tourist strip that remains open until around 9 PM when we visited. The staff is knowledgable and their English very good. They also had a special at the pool area for those wanting to enjoy peruvian food. We sampled both the Peruvian Anticuchos: Marinated Beef Heart Kebabs and Peruvian Picarones – Peruvian doughnuts along with a couple of local cervezas. Breakfast was very good to start the second part of our tour. All in all a very nice stoping point that I would be happy to stop by again if in the area.
Wonderful pools and gardens, fantastic staff
We had about 40 days to travel in Peru and we wanted to have 8 days at a beach resort before we went up the mountains. We stayed at Hotel Paracas for 8 nights. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. I would stay here again. A few pros and cons: Pros: There were a few staff members that really made the experience special. Becker at the pool area was the most helpful waiters we’ve had. He was always available when you need him, he made whatever we requested like off menu drinks happen, and he struck the perfect balance in being very nice and accessible without overbearing. We knew we’d have great service at the pool when he was working. Gina at the Spa is hands down the best masseuse I’ve ever had in my whole life and I get regular massages. I had ankle surgery a few years ago and so my left leg gets a little stiff sometimes. Gina has the touch. This means that she knows exactly where knots are, how they are connected, and how to work them. She had the perfect pressure of working the knots and knew when to stop before it was too much. She’s the perfect masseuse if you want to work on body part. Gina is extremely talented. She’s a world class masseuse. Christian is a cook who prepared a lot of vegan cuisines for us. We brought some vegan Mac and Cheese and a few vegan curries since we are traveling for so many days. He prepared everything according to the instructions of the box and was delicious. Cons: The beach is not a swimming beach. However, there were 2 pools that were nice. There is a rotten algae smell every so often. It’s not all the time, but it still sucked. The drinks were pretty expensive and they were US prices. The food for 8 nights got really boring. We tried everything in a day and a half. I’m glad we brought a few premade curries and packaged foods to supplement what the restaurant had.
Amazing Property in Paracas
Stayed here two nights after Lima. Property is oasis. As a Marriott Ambassador member was upgraded to villa with plunge pool. Resort is well kept. From checkin to checkout process was completed flawlessly. Staff went out of their way to make us fell welcomed. Wish weather was bit warmer and next time will visit during South Americans summer months. Will recommend to others.
Not up to the Luxury Collection Standard
We stayed three nights in February 2020. As a Marriott Platinum, I was upgraded to a Solarium Suite before arriving to the hotel. Upon arrival, we walked up to the check-in desk and were provided cold towels and a drink. The front desk agent asked for our passports and as soon as she heard my wife speak to the bellhop in Spanish she refused to speak in English. This was a running theme throughout our stay as only the concierge seemed to be the only one to interact with us in English. This seems like an on-going issue as there are multiple Tripadvisor reviews stating the same thing for the past few years. You'd expect that a resort that hosts many international guests could interact with English speaking guests. Even the AC Hotel (in the Marriott brand) in Lima has all customer-facing employees speak English to native English speaking guests. If you are not fluent in English it becomes noticeably difficult to call housekeeping to request items for your room, making a room service food orders, ordering at the restaurants, asking staff for directions to things in town, etc.. There was also trash throughout the grounds of the hotel. The beach where you rent kayaks, along the seawall, and the sundeck that extends into the water had month's worth of bird poop on it. The patio of our suite was never cleaned. The floor had a noticeable amount of debris and the patio furniture was unusable as it was covered in bird droppings and was dirty. We also found that just after breakfast the hotel decided to start demolishing the tile outside the restaurant in the middle of the day with broken tile spread everywhere which was a noticeable hazard for those walking by. Mind you this is peak season they are doing this work in. This isn't up to standard for a Marriott Luxury Collection (not where near as close as the Tambo Del Inka). When I wrote the General Manager he wrote back apologizing, but would not acknowledge any of the issues, which shows that one can expect these issues to continue. Coming back we'd probably consider staying at the Doubletree or the La Hacienda unless things change. Otherwise, the suite was spacious. All staff, while speaking little to no English, were still friendly and polite. The food prices are what you'd expect in the USA, but the food and beverage quality at the hotel is of high quality. The location is excellent with day tours of the islands leaving directly from the hotel. The hotel even went out of their way to make our anniversary special with F&B gifts. I would have given a much higher rating if the resort could keep the property clean and at least acknowledge issues when they are reported and make a meaningful effort to resolve said issues.
