Loved the hot outdoor springs!
There were 3 of the, with different temperatures. We chose the 3rd as it was almost empty. Unfortunately, we arrived far too late in the evening so we were not able to make use of the indoor spa, cross the hanging bridge (looked a bit scary, but I’m sure kids love it) or visit the animals. We did manage to use the pools, and we LOVED it. The views around us were lovely and so peaceful. We also ordered drinks and a pizza from the bar just by the pools. Nice pizza! Careful, though, the walk down /up to the pools is a bit steep and the air was cold once you got up from the lovely warm pools. Don’t forget to make your reservation in the restaurants, so you get the time and restaurant you prefer. There was one big and one smaller, and as we were only 2 we preferred the smaller, more intimate and quieter one. Food was good as usual during our 3 week-holiday in lovely Peru. Service also fine. We loved our chalet! The bathroom was big - two washbasins and evening a long stool where you could rest. As we came as part of a package tour I can’t comment on their tours.
THE place to stay in Colca Canyon
Gorgeous, stunning lodge and spa. Great food, room, property and vibe. Llama farm, hot springs on property, paths and hikes to explore right out your door. Food is great for breakfast and dinner. 2 nights was perfect!! Sevice is great- lovely hard working staff. We loved our stay- the pictures do not lie!
Not recommended at all
This hotel is really over graded and over priced, the room are so dirty you will find insect everywhere in the room, I found also couple big spiders in my Bed !!!!! Picture attached The staff at the front desk are really rudes, except one nice girl. The is not a retreat as Peruvian come here with there kids blast music in the pools, jump in the pools, we came here to relax and apparently those people won’t respect that. You will get very bored here, there is basically nothing to do. When you ask front desk prices for tours they will over charge you same for the taxi, make your own research and book everything your self, but again I won’t recommend to do all this driving to get the service and the dirtiness of the room. The breakfast is horrible they have nothing to eat, they don’t even know how to cook your eggs, at the restaurant portion are very small. Tonight 6 people sent back there food to the kitchen including us. I won’t send any of my friend here. Big improvements need to be made.
The quietest possible place to rest and enjoy the scenery.
We loved the absolutely wonderful location in the valley. The gardens were well laid out and maintained, the flowers near the door of our room was visited frequently by hummingbirds. There was no airconditioning system to keep you awake at night. The breakfast buffet was rather basic, the lunch/dinner options were better. The only downside was the noisy and smelly petrol-powered lawn mower. There must be better options than this.
A magical retreat after a challenging pilgrimage
We arrived at this hotel after a 4 day Inca Trail, so I cannot begin to explain what a treat this was. Check-in was easy and we were offered a welcome drink of Inca iced tea on arrival and then shown to our room. We booked a double room, which was clean and spacious and comfortable. There is no TV in the room, which was not a problem for us. There is free WiFi in all areas of the hotel which is fast and reliable. The breakfast is served in the main restaurant and there was a good selection of bread, ham and cheese as well as fresh fruit and yoghurts and also hot options with an egg station, sautéed potatoes, bacon and sausage. To finish there was a selection of sweet cakes and muffins and pancakes. There was also a designated area for gluten free. The food was high quality and we very much enjoyed our long breakfasts in the morning. The main restaurant is also open for lunch and in the evenings and there is and addition bar/grill at the hot springs for lunch and a separate more intimate restaurant for dinner in the evening, which serves the same food at the same prices. We found the menu had a good variety of dishes including local specialties and also a selection of pasta/pizza at very reasonable prices (most mains around 45 soles). The service was friendly and attentive and the quality of the food was excellent. There is also a comfortable bar, which had a warm fire every evening during our stay, which has a good selection of cocktails at a reasonable price (Pisco sour was around 27 soles). During the day, there are some very local free amenities in the hotel grounds including a visit to the alpaca ranch (open till 6.30pm) which has a couple of designated rooms with information about the condor and also the alpacas/llamas, which we found very interesting. In addition of course are the hot springs, which were clean, comfortable and relaxing. We might have been lucky as we stayed in low season, but we enjoyed these to ourself during our visit in the daytime and in the evening, when we went out and enjoyed the stars. The hotel kindly provided a torch in the hotel room to make this possible, otherwise the walk down to the hot springs would be difficult. They encouraged us to use the robes and towels they provided in the room to visit the hot springs. In addition, it is possible to venture further afield, but keep in mind that the hotel is located in the valley and therefore any hikes do typically involve a moderately steep climb at the beginning. We visited Yanque (30 minute walk) and watched the dancing at 6.30am, which was performed by local children. We also took a local bus from here to visit Chivay (we were charged 10 soles for 2). In addition, the hotel kindly arranged a private taxi for us to visit the Cruz del Condor for 190 soles, which included the journey there and back and the driver waited for us whilst we watched the condors fly (in addition, it is an extra 70 soles each for the tourist ticket). We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again! p.s bring insect repellent spray
