+1 star for the alpaca
I had high hopes for the hotel based on a friend's recommendation, but it really wasn't as nice as the other two Marriott properties we stayed at, and the service was nowhere near as good. The building was beautiful, but the rooms were very small, and so was the shower. I stayed two nights separated by a night at Machu Picchu and both rooms were nearly as small as I'd expect in Manhattan or Paris, far smaller than the JW in Lima. I also found the service at breakfast slow, especially the coffee refills. We did enjoy the free pisco sour, and the baby alpaca in the courtyard was awesome! I couldn't believe she didn't accept a tip. We also enjoyed the weaving demonstration in the courtyard. The thing that really put me off the hotel was, I am a Titanium Bonvoy member. I spend a lot of nights away from my husband to get that & was really irritated that the front desk denied us the "guaranteed 4 p.m." checkout titanium amenity. I didn't even want 4 p.m. checkout, I asked for 1 p.m. due to our flight time and they'd only give me noon because of a large group coming. Having not fully acclimated to the altitude, I really wanted to just relax in the room until leaving for the airport. I didn't like being kicked out.
Great choice in Cusco
Overall hands down and the best hotel we stayed in Peru, especially compared to the Tambo del Inca hotel in the Sacred Valley! Great breakfast spread and food. Don’t forget to visit Panchita, the Alpaca in residence!
Stayed for 2 nights, the rooms are nice and very comfortable especially since oxygen is pumped in through the Air Conditioner, makes such a difference to the Altitude sickness, due to height of Cusco being 11200 Feet. The breakfast is great. The lobby and the reception is beautiful. And the service is outstanding.
Excellent choice in Cusco
An impeccable properrty - the location, staff, rooms, food and feel all top notch. We had friends at the other, nearby Marriott and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay as well. Cusco is a beautiful town and the Marriott Convento is a perfect base to explore. (Uber very available and very affordable in the area - about $10 to the airport. We Ubered all around Peru with absolutely no problems).
It was an amazing stay at the hotel, lobby is huge and stunning rooms are modern and nicely furnished breakfast buffet is amazing. Hotel staff are professional and supportive And Friendly. One more extra bounce if you have an early pick up for a tour or checking out early to catch a flight hotel can prepare breakfast lunch box free of charge if your room has breakfast included. And breakfast buffet is open from 5:30 am which is great
