A shiny newcomer shaking up the Muscat hotel scene with its striking design.

The cool architecture impresses as soon as you walk into the palatial lobby – all gleaming columns and acres of white marble. The Kempinski Hotel Muscat squares up to the Gulf of Oman in all its modern Arabic glory: large expanses of glass frame sea views and glorious arches soar high overhead.

Found in the leafy district of Al Mouj, you’re perfectly placed for an Omani getaway: the marble-clad Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and stunning Royal Opera House are around 20 minutes away by car, while the international airport is half that drive.

There are two outdoor pools flanked by a bar and sun loungers, with more loungers dotted along the 6km-long beach. Here, you can kick back with a good book or sign up for watersports galore – wakeboarding, waterskiing, paddleboarding, kayaking and scuba diving.
