Beautiful, Relaxing Property
We recently stayed at Victoria House and we fell completely in love. From our plantation room, the service, the food and the ease of last minute planning, it was all perfect. We were able to schedule relaxing massages in the over water bungalow and leave on fantastic water excursions right from the dock of the property. Sight seeing was made convenient by renting a golf cart for the day. We couldn’t have asked for a more chill and relaxing vacation. Thank you, Victoria House and we can’t wait to return with our children next time!
Perfect wedding and honeymoon
Planning a wedding is stressful, but Javier made everything effortless on our side. The staff was so friendly and helpful, even making recommendations for places to eat around town. Booking excursions was really easy as well. The property itself is breathtaking and our room was really comfortable.
Average but not Luxury
The staff at Victoria House were friendly and courteous. If you stay here, ask a lot of questions about the room before booking a room that fits you. There are many inconsistencies between the rooms. We stayed in Casita 3. It was a tiny room with a small bath area. No TV. No phone to call the front desk or room service. No coffee/tea bar in the room. The bed was hard and lumpy. The AC unit was set up to blow directly on the bed (we froze when it was on; we sweated when we turned it off). The ground crew mustered around 6:00 am each morning behind our room to start their day (so no sleeping past 6:00 am due to the noise they created). There is no natural beach (it is a hard pack sandy area behind a bulkhead). The water is not suitable for swimming in front of the bulkhead. The Dive shop did a good job with our excursions (fishing, snorkeling, etc) and the Golf Cart rental was good. The food was average and service is friendly but slow in both the restaurant and bar. Avoid eating their beef (had a spoiled burger in the bar one day). The seafood is good and the safest bet for fresh food. The bar drinks were tasty but lacked much alcohol. If you like beer choices, they only had two brands (the local Belikin beer and Land Shark). We did not test the wine menu. We recommend you eat most your meals in San Pedro where the food and choices are much better. Overall a clean and well maintained resort but definitely not in the luxury category.
One of the best parts of our Belize trip!
This resort is one of my favorite places I have stayed at in all of my travels! Beautiful scenery, luxurious accommodations, friendly staff with gracious service, delicious food, easy access to water activities, an amazing spa, and more. This place was fully booked during our stay, yet we felt at times, like we were the only ones there with the place and staff to ourselves. I was also impressed with the help we received during our booking process from the Houston contact, Donald. He went above and beyond helping us with our room reservations, and with reservations for things we wanted to do during our stay.
Plush and Pampered
The title really says it all but let's begin with our room. The Victoria House, a plantation with thatched cabanas, and private villas. We stayed in a Plantation Suite facing the sea. The door opened to a lovely sitting area, even though there was a sleeper sofa in the sitting room (a comfortable twin bed was added, due to my sensitivity to snoring it was nice to have a quiet space to sleep, lol). The sitting room had an AC unit, ceiling fan, lamp, table, dry bar, sofa sleeper, two chairs, and coffee table and a grand double door that leads to the bedroom. The bedroom had a king bed, with mosquito netting, fresh flowers, robes, chocolates and two drink vouchers waiting to welcome us. This room had an AC, ceiling fan, two chairs, table, beach bag (with towels) and a chest of drawers ( I did sleep in both beds and they are super comfy with soft pillows for a weary head). Both the sitting area and bedroom decorated in a fashionable vintage paintings and/or prints. Then the bathroom with a walk in, spacious, shower, vanity, spacious walk in closet, with safe and stocked mini fridge, extra towels and was decorated in a bright tropical tile motif. There was even a room mosquito eater if need be. Our suite was spacious and lovely! We were taken back by the exceptional staff that made our 7 day stay specail and for those grounds keepers, two thumbs up! The staff is warm and seems to be interested in our experiances and offers local suggestions on native food, or places to check out, this staff go out of their way to make our stay the best ever. The grounds keepers make this historic place perfect. They are constantly grooming and making the Victoria House picture perfect (which would explain why the insects minimal, no sand flies) and native enough for the House Iguanas to be comfy. Yes, Iguanas! No need to worry about these natives, they don't want anything to do with you. Then there is the food! The Palmilla Restaurant was top notch specializing in sea food, of course. However, for the beef lover, their selections are delish, along with refreshing salads and deserts to die for! Admiral Nelson's menu was excellent as well and so were the cocktails and Belekin! Admiral Nelson has live music a couple of times a week that is soothing to the ears. Speaking of soothing to the ears, only select accommodations have TV's or in-room telephones. No booming music. One can hear music, mostly, acoustic music (artists like Rodrigo Y Gabriella) play, very nice! If we ever needed to leave, the Victoria House has golf cart rentals (which is the main mode of transportation here) to rent. They also have bicycles to take out with no charge. Along with those two items, kayaks, and I think, paddle boards are available. Need to work off that big meal? They got a gym. Need to ease those sore muscles? They have a spa. Victoria House is heaven on earth. We did book a tour to the Lamani Ruins directly through Victoria House and, of course, it was amazing! Greeted by Howler Monkeys, we learned of the trees, the residents that once live at Lamani, and saw amazing ruins that we were able to climb. If the owners just happen to read this review, thank you so much for making our stay so incredible!
