Pretty hotel with stunning views!
Very nice hotel with views to die for. We stayed on an upper level that overlooked the mountain. This meant gorgeous sunset, sunrise and midday views. The staff was nice, many amenities and had everything you need. Mt Cook is fairly remote but you don’t feel like it here.
Was so excited to book the hermitage as it was going to be a treat. I was so disappointed and embarrassed to think our tourists pay this money to stay here with this standard. Very dated. Plastic kettle in cupboad. Couldn't get into dinner until 9 as fully booked was told a place down the road was open so we drove down but nothing open. No dinner for us. Breakfast we were seated not sure what we were meant to do we waited 15 minutes before anybody came to even give us water. Cooked breakfast was just embarrassing, Staff were very pleasant. The hermitage is in an amazing spot and close to some beautiful walks.
An amazing night of star gazing and best view from our window
We just had the best night ever, star gazing with the passionate & intelligent Kate. We saw planets, Stars and learnt so much. Loved the hot chocolate and cookie. Kate & Richard we’re excellent guides. Our night at the hermitage was comfy, warm with the best view of Aoraki Mount Cook from our top floor window. Magical!!! The meal was yummy and breakfast set us up for the day. Oh, and the Planetarium show is a must do. Thanks, Hermitage!!
Fabulous hotel with disappointing food and beverage.
This hotel is an iconic New Zealand destination in a magnificent location. The reception team were wonderful providing us with a warm welcome and explaining everything on offer both at the hotel and nearby. Housekeeping was outstanding, the rooms were perfectly clean, the bed was super comfortable and linens provided excellent. What let the hotel down was the food and beverage. We went to the bar and ordered the bar snack platters which were rather on the small side fir tge $22.00 price. I asked for gluten free bread or crackers and was told these were not available. I went to the hotel shop and bought a $3.00 packet of rice crackers to have with my cheese board in the bar. Breakfast was no better, there is no choice of items. You are served cereal and yoghurt with some slices of cheese and fruit and the hot food was various items on your plate that appeared to come from a buffet where it appeared the food had sat too long. One bonus was GF bread was available. If the F&B team could lift their game this would have been a 5 star stay.
Wonderful family stay!
We stayed at the hermitage mid August in a premium super king room and just wow what a view! We had the most amazing two nights! The room was massive and the view was outstanding, we spent a considerable amount of time sitting just looking at the outstanding view of the mountains. The staff were absolutely lovely and always had a smile on their faces. We had dinner at both the buffet and the restaurant and enjoyed the food at both. The hotel has a warm and relaxing vibe to it and was such a great place to stay for a family holiday. We will definitely return one day!
