We have just spent two lovely nights at Stephanie & Alistair’s home and it has been just fantastic. From the wonderful welcome from Stephanie, to the breakfasts cooked by Alistair, to the tips, advice and insight from both of them, this was a very special place to stay. After just the two nights we felt that Stephanie & Alistair were our friends and we were very sad to leave. Indeed, I had to drag Lorraine away as she would have stood there talking for the rest of the day! Lovely comfortable rooms, terrific artwork around the place and simply a very relaxing place to stay. Thank you Stephanie & Alistair for letting us share your home. Phil & Lorraine.
Excellent place to stay.
Stayed here for two nights in February as part of a tour of New Zealand South Island. This is a beautiful little oasis. Very stylish , but still comfortable and very relaxing. Stephanie is very helpful with local knowledge and also of places further a field. Nothing is too much trouble, this ticks all the boxes for location, accommodation and great hosts. Highly recommend.
We loved our 2 night stay at the Lodge as we came to the end of our 1 month tour of New Zealand. Thank you to Alistair for his delicious omelettes from his special frying pans, best breakfast on our tour. Thank you to Stephanie for some great hosting which included restaurant bookings and tour organising. This lovely lodge is so welcoming from the message on the front porch to the guests room with complimentary coffee and tea , beer and wine. The Lodge rooms are extremely comfortable, well decorated and has a nice veranda with views over the lake. It’s also well situated for the town with a 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. While visiting Lake Tekapo this is a must stay Lodge.
Such a shame
We did not manage a stay at Lake Tekapo Lodge they were fully booked . However we did pop in looking for an address a few doors away that we could not find . My husband had the unfortunate experience of asking for help , while Alistair tried to assist Stephanie was most unfriendly to the point of being rude . Her only comment was ‘it’s either that way or that way’ . We were very unsettled by this manner and attitude, we have been traveling in New Zealand for three weeks and have been simply delighted with everyone we have met . I am hoping this was an off day , we regularly post on Trip advisor and try to give genuine honest and POSITIVE accounts of our experience. I think we are lucky we had not booked to stay here .
Totally Memorable for Accommodations and Hospitality
There are many places to stay in this wide world...and then there are some that are so special you know you will remember them forever! Lake Tekapo Lodge is one of those. Stephanie and Alistair are such gracious hosts which makes the lovely accommodations so much more than a place to sleep. Rooms are large with comfy beds, wonderful bathrooms, and a patio seating area right outside your room. There is a great hospitality room for your pleasure filled with drinks, books, and chocolates! We never found a breakfast during the rest of our trip that rivaled Alistairs talents. Stephanie's recommendations for touring Mt. Cook, Mt. John, restaurants, and vineyards were spot on. Personally I loved the kitschy touches to the tasteful decorating and the lively conversation when we hung out with our hosts or other guests the best! It was a memorable stay and highly recommended...but you should reserve way in advance to have this awesome experience.
