A fantastic hotel in the heart of Queenstown!
This was my first time staying at Sofitel Queenstown despite being a regular visitor to the town. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the hotel and friendliness of the staff. In particular I would very much like to thank Jeremy, Preshit and Harriet for enhancing my stay (above and beyond my expectations) and to Annabelle for assisting me personally upon check out. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel and it’s team to anyone considering a luxury stay in Queenstown!
***VERY ENJOYABLE STAY***
We loved our stay in our Prestige Suite. The bedroom had a lovely king size bed with lovely pillows and linen. The bathroom was cosy with underfloor heating and heated towel rail. The lounge was very comfortable and we had a Nespresso coffee machine. 3 TV’s - one each in bathroom, bedroom & lounge. Staff were lovely starting with showing us to our Suite and taking the time to show us where everything was and how it worked. Reception were always willing to help with any requests. Restaurant staff looked after us well too. Breakfast was fine but not Five Star. Can’t wait for our next stay.
a luxury treat indeed
We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary as well as to have the kids enjoy a little get away during the school holiday and we found the place a perfect spot for such purpose. It is not too big so the experience is quite personalised, the rooms are generously spaced. The interior are stunningly decorated. and the location can not be faulted - right in the centre of town. Would definitely recommend!
One of the best hotels in New Zealand!
As part of our yearly Winter Festival trip to Queenstown (which was unfortunately cancelled this year) we like to stay somewhere different each time, this year we chose the Sofitel Hotel and Spa. Luckily they had chosen to open the week after our booking and were happy to move our booking to the next week. Upon arrival staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They delivered our luggage to our room and were happy to show us around. Considering this was the first day they were open since lockdown we were extremely impressed with how good the staff were. A special mention to Rose who was always happy to say hello to us and our son as we walked through. The room was incredible, we had a great view of the Gondola and coronet peak from our balcony, the beds were among the best we had experienced in a hotel and the bathroom was as luxurious as the pictures suggested. My birthday was during this trip and my fiance had called ahead, and the staff had prepared some treats in the room. An amazing touch and made a special weekend even better. They even prepared a cot for our son and made it up each day. We couldn't ask for better service! The Left Bank Bistro had incredible breakfast and staff who were attentive from the second we walked in, offering us hot drinks and arranging a table for us. They were very accommodating of our toddler (thank you!) The food was delicious and varied, I would say it is the best hotel breakfast I have experienced in NZ. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely consider staying again in the future, we can't wait to go back!
Well located but not 5 star
We recently spent 3 nights at the Sofitel Hotel in Queenstown. It is very well located although not great views of the lake, almost none at all. Not that they advertise they have lake views. Like many hotels in Queenstown, parking is a major issue if you have a car. The room was spacious, but like one other review I read, the balcony is for standing on only, and even then, both of you would need to be thin to stand on it together! Staff were friendly and accommodating, although we were less than impressed with housekeeping wanting to make our room up at 9.15am on our second day! The biggest disappointment here is the breakfast, both in quality and venue. It was like feeding time at the zoo. Crowded, not enough spaces to sit. Several had to wait for a table to be vacated. The whole design encourages people getting in each others way and food average at best. We regrettably had 3 breakfasts here. Not once did the food change to include any sort of variety. To be honest, you would be much better off going go to a local cafe. However, it was quiet at night time which is a real bonus. Having stayed at a number of 5 star hotels around the world, the Sofitel in Queenstown is well short of those standards.
