Over the Top
The rooms are absolutely magnificent. The cabins are lovely and like a page out of a Ralph Lauren catalog. The owner Andy Cunningham is the most accommodating and delightful host who cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. This is truly a five star world class jewel. My family and I live in Queenstown and look forward to returning for a longer stay and to enjoying the amazing cuisine. In all of my years of travel, I don't think I have come across a nicer place with a more accommodating host who goes above and beyond to satisfy.
Amazing location in an incredible structure
You will love this lodge. The wooden staircases and lodge setting is spectacular. Very remote and the food was amazing. Loved it. The staff is very attentive and very accommodating. Great hot tub outside too!
A simply stunning place, in stunning scenery. We had our own separate and extremely comfortable log cabin, set apart from the lodge itself. The cabin was very very comfortable, with all the amenities one could wish for. The Lodge, where we had dinner, is large and a beautiful and intriguing building. The meals were uniformly excellent, and all the staff were super-friendly and professional. A lovely lovely stay.
Breathtaking views, remote country setting, attention to detail.
We weren't lucky enough to stay here, but stopped by the Fiordland Lodge on our travels back from Crystal Falls. It's as gorgeous as their website states with beautiful lodge-type furnishings, wood and fixtures. A very helpful staff member was welcoming. We walked around the site and found the 2 remote open air hot tub areas that provide a lake view but which are totally private. Five helicopters sat on the back lawn which had transported the private party for lunch. There is a greenhouse on location that supplies vegetables and herbs. This is a delightful, private and exclusive haven for the most discerning guest. Next time we'll book earlier.
Not worth the price
The lodge is in a beautiful area that is secluded and facing the lake. It is convenient to the town and to the Milford Road. But, the room is like a motel room, with not the basic amenities, like a shower cap or cotton pads and q tips. The television barely functioned, though internet was good. You could clearly hear peoples voices above and to either side of our room. The food was good but not gourmet and for $800 USD per night, including breakfast, dinner, canapés and an alcohol beverage. I would estimate the cost of the room then being around $500 USD which is outrageous. I would recommend staying in a nice motel in Te Anau.
