Love the aesthetic, love the location
Prime location, love the decor. We had a lovely large room with large bathroom and bath. The quality of the complimentary toiletries and the selection of tea and coffee was good. Pool and spa area was strange as there were no changing areas or lockers, but the facility itself was a nice extra as there aren't many hotels with pools in Wellington Central. Sadly the Hippopotamus restaurant is closed indefinitely. Standard of service depended on the staff member at reception. Concierge/Valet and the first reception staff member we met gave a wonderful first impression and we felt very welcome. Another staff member failed to give us the passkey to the pool area after we asked how to find it sending us there with no way to enter, and another staff member couldn't find confirmation of a food and beverage credit even after I showed the email from the hotel. Overall , we enjoyed our stay and will book again.
This was our third time in QT. First time it was still called museum hotel. Third time a charm? Well no, not really. This hotel is run by teenagers/ young adolescents who have no idea how to treat guests and miss the gravitas that should belong in this price class. The experience turns into backpackers hotel with art. Guy at the reception with long curly hair and ditto fingernails, yuk. Phone not working in hotel room. Room temperature much too high but failed getting someone to help with this after promised by the same long fingernail dude. We had to endure a much to warm room with four people in their executive twin for two days and no way of calling reception or room service for anything. But maybe the worst was the breakfast. Brown sweaty salmon uncooled. Next to uncooled sweaty meats that probably kills you when you eat it which only a blind person without smell would do. Overcooked scrambled eggs, and a pre cooked porridge that people living in the middle ages probably have thrown out for the pigs. While checking out my wife got told off by another young girl behind reception in regards to some minor misunderstanding. Good things? Yes, the interior design of the hotel. The bathroom facilities in the executive twin rooms and the location but the has degenerated over the five years and our three stays in this period. Won't be coming back. Overpriced.
Well appointed family room in great location
Fantastic art everywhere. Prime location opposite Te Papa Museum. Stylish room with comfy beds. Was very handy to have a clothes washer/drier in the room (although combined washer/driers never seem to dry clothes that well so more hangers would have been useful). We really enjoyed having the indoor pool (to ourselves!) The $40 a day parking charge was a not so welcome surprise. We didn't eat in the hotel as there were plenty of options right outside the door.
2 night stay.
For the price you pay it isn’t worth it. The rooms are small, the shower leaks out of the bath and the floor gets soaked. Nice place but definitely not worth the price tag. Better to stay at the intercontinental.
Amazing stay loved it ❤ will be back rooms were great nicely cleaned high five to the housekeeping team, friendly staff :) great location, checkin was nice and quick the way i like it, will totally be back
