Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great Experience
This is my second time visiting the hotel for work, and once again I was extremely impressed by the professional service and courtesy of the staff, as well as the overall condition of the hotel and rooms. Every one was extremely friendly and helpful, and it just made the stay a holistically great and seamless experience. Until next time!
Hotel Falling Apart
While we enjoyed QT in the past for its art and style, on the 2 occasions we’ve stayed since lockdown our rooms weren’t ready until 7pm and 6pm, though we’d arrived at around 3:15 both stays. When we got to the room, it looked like it had been cleaned in a rush, the blinds were broken, the WiFi did not work and the A/C did not work (at around $450 a night!?). On two separate days, our room hadn’t been serviced and when we called down to inquire about it we were told that they had only 2 housekeepers on for a fully booked 4 star hotel?? The staff, to their credit, were very friendly but seemed to be thinly spread and with the 4 nights we stayed, every afternoon the reception area was filled with people waiting with their bags. I chatted with a gentleman waiting and he’d said that he and his partner had been waiting for about 4 hours for their room. Needless to say, I don’t think we will be returning and would advise anyone paying these prices and who wanted to make their flights on time or appliances that work to stay somewhere else... P.S. I’ve read though some of the other reviews and find them similar to ours. Can’t wait for the auto-generated response from the hotel to this review. Seriously, do better.
Minimal Investment, Maximum Charging
This hotel is all about the gimmick - and you are paying a premium for it. I would recommend going in to the hotel bar for a drink and a wander around the lobby, but don't waste your money on the rates to stay here, there are much better places. While the decor is lovely, lots of art in the lobbies, and the service staff were friendly when talking to you, it doesn't provide the experience I'd expect at the price charged. Their check in process is poor - we arrived around 5pm and even those in our group who'd checked in earlier had a long wait to collect their keys. Lots of rooms weren't ready until almost 6pm. I had to ask for my luggage to be brought up twice in the evening despite having checked in at 9am The housekeeping is extremely poor for the price, no attention to detail and dirty in places. Towels were haphazardly thrown in the vanity and still had hair on them. It felt like they'd been line dried rather than having been through a drier and each one was folded a different way (making me wonder whether they'd been left in the room since the last guest). The silicone sealing behind the sink had clearly not been done by a tradesman (I'm a 33 year old white collar female and I can silicone better than this), clearly done on the cheap and now growing mould because of all of the lines and cracks. Even little things I'd expect for a room of this price aren't bothered with - like having the minibar items presented with labels facing out rather than turned in (so guests don't need to handle everything to find what they want). Restaurant food is overpriced and pretty average. Overall, I felt like a cash cow rather than a valued customer, wouldn't stay again.
Perfect stay as always
This was our second visit to QT Wellington, and can I just say it was as amazing as the first. This is our first pick when we visit Wellington and it always exceeds our expectations. We will definently be back a third and more than likely a fourth time in the future.
Great location, not your standard hotel
Location is excellent for the waterfront, Te Papa, Circa Theatre, the interisland ferries, city.... Love the fact that this hotel is individualistic - great art displayed throughout, a sense of being different from your standard bland chain hotel.
