We were very impressed with this hotel when we stayed there recently. From the initial check-in onwards the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were lucky to be given an upgrade to a room with a lovely view. The hotel kindly gave us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our anniversary - totally unexpected and delightful. The room had been recently upgraded and the furnishings and decor was veyr fine. Lots of good choices at the breakfast. To be highly recommended.
First stay, first class
This is the first time we’ve stayed here and I would stay again. We were welcomed by lovely staff and a beautiful cake selection for my husbands birthday. The location is great for the city life and walking.
Convenient location and Good quality
I have stayed here twice in the last three months. The first trip I had an old room (and the building works were noisy as was the wind whistling in the corner window) On the second visit I got an upgrade to a Harbour View room which felt fresh and new. The views were beautiful and I would probably pay extra for this again. Location is convenient for most meetings but if you are a tourist also handy to most sites. I had room service which was speedy and the food hot and tasty. Buffet breakfast had good offering and was efficient.
Another great stay at the IC Wellington
This is the hotel we have stayed at most in Wellington and this visit was up to their usual high standard. We started with a champagne high tea for 6 that we booked several weeks in advance and while we were originally informed at the time of booking that a GF option was possible we got a call back to say that 2 of the 6 would need to order from the lunch menu. The high tea looked very impressive and in the end the Caesar salad was really good despite a first world pang of food envy looking at what we were surrounded by. We had a two night stay. The room was spotless and well laid out, the club isn't open at present but is due to come back in 2021. In the past it has been a very well run club and worth the extra cost. Breakfast was really good in Chameleon and a nice surprise given tha we usually eat in the club lounge. The made to order omlette was as good as we've had anywhere (and was large it was all that you needed for breakfast and lunch). Staff are of a very high calibre and recall your name and preferences. We can't to return once the club reopens. The rate was paid also represented very good value. There is more 5 star competition locally but the IC Wellington remains our favourite.
Wonderful staff.. love being called ‘madam’, makes you feel posh. I visited with my teenage daughter and caught up with friends. She loved spending time in the fitness centre and my friend’s grandchildren loved swimming in the pool. We walked to Te Papa only 10 minutes away. Countdown is a block away to get snacks to pop in the mini fridge. The hotel is located near shopping and restaurants. The breakfast buffet is 10stars, excellent food. Loved the poached eggs and daily mini smoothies. The fresh fruit was delightful and yummy. Even the 6 year old was jumping for joy at the choices. The room was clean and comfortable, bed was like sleeping on air. The pillows were comfortable. It has aircon/heat that was perfect. All the amenities were in the room.. though we didn’t like the shampoo that much. They had great products in the changing room in the pool area. That was a bonus. We had an upgraded room so had been refurbished. It even included an umbrella and a walk in rain shower. My friend stayed in a non refurbished room but she still loved the room and thought the beds were very comfortable. The staff were just delightful from the concierge, to front desk, to room service, restaurant and lobby lounge. Big shout out to Far for assisting us in the reservations. Yes the pool is open, as earlier reviews showed it closed. I just contacted reservations and they told me it was re-opened. Also reviews said the pool area & hot pool needed updating. I can agree but it was still lovely to swim with the glass ceiling showing a view to the sky line. Even though it was summer still nice the pool was heated as it is Wellington and the hot pool was very relaxing. It seemed the hot pool had continuous flow of water through the spa pool so it felt clean. The fitness centre has been recently upgraded with all necessary equipment with weights, cardi and a stretching area, water fountain, boxing bag, steps etc. The hotel was filled with hands sanitizer everywhere!!! The fitness centre has wipes for the equipment. Come along and enjoy your stay. We will be back.
