Wow....Loved this place! We came on a ‘Luxury Escape ‘ and were not disappointed. A delightful atmosphere with sublime views out to Mokoia Island. Travelled with two other couples so got to see their rooms which were equally as gorgeous as ours. The whole place is beautifully decorated with antiques and contemporary pieces lending it a warm, homely atmosphere. Also excellent food! Loved the private dining spaces too. Waiting hopefully for another ‘Luxury Escape’ offer so that I can book in again!
Sensational vacation experience.
For 5 star get away you can't go past Peppers on the Point at Rotorua. From the moment you arrive till the moment you leave you will feel like a valued guest, from delicious breakfast to fine dining evening meal It's a 10/10 Accommodation had to be up there with the best NZ has to offer. Beautifully located with well maintained gardens to relax in. A gorgeous chapel to celebrate a wedding or special occasion. One of NZ's best kept secrets.
Luxury weekend away
Decided to take a luxury weekend away to use some of our credit from Luxury Escapes. As Rotorua is close to home we chose this beautiful and delightful spot on the lake. Peppers has amazing grounds and colonial style building. Our room was large and set out beautifully. There are pet miniature horses, donkeys and sheep - pick up some carrots from the kitchen and wonder down to feed them, they are so friendly! A tennis court is available to use if you feel like some exercise. Our room was next door to the breakfast room. In the room we had a capsule coffee maker, plunger, tea bags and a few pieces of fruit and biscuits. Our suite was made up of 4 rooms - a small lounge, bedroom, shower room and bathroom with a spa bath. We paid extra for a view of the lake which was wonderful, so could wake up in the morning and enjoy the view... except for the second morning when people arriving for a early brunch (?) parked right in our way (luckily they cannot see in with the one way glass windows) There is a delightful lounge/sitting area and formal dinning room in the main entrance to enjoy a seat by the fire and dinner by night. A church is also situated in the garden and worth a look and to take photos - amazing view ! Pro’s- picturesque, clean, attention to detail, staff are lovely and attentive and the food is to die for - compliments to the chef. Cons - the bed is very firm and pillows not to my liking. Very expensive but worth while for a very special occasion.
Beautiful and unique.
We were absolutely blown away by the view when we drove in. The building is unique, well maintained given the age, very special, and displays a lot of history. If I could give a 4.5 I would, however I cannot and do not believe it deserves a full 5 stars. We do not mind dogs and have them at home, but this is certainly the last place either of us would have expected to be greeted by an yapping little dog, which is why I am only giving it a 4. Over our time here we dined in house and went to a few other local places. If you get the chance to dine in and have the English chef cook for you, I would highly recommended it. We loved getting to walk around and explore this amazing property. The ladies who look after the grounds were only too happy to take us to meet the animals, which we thoroughly appreciated. Despite the pooch, we have told our friends about our stay and they have booked in for a few days in the new year.
Brunch at The Mains
A group of us decided to come here for lunch. The setting is magical and the staff are extremely obliging. However there were a couple of things that let Peppers down today. 1. Quite a few options on the menu included poached eggs, great when cooked correctly however all the eggs were overdone. 2. We were given a brunch menu but there was no drinks menu. The wine was enoyable but at $15 per glass I felt the price was excessive. Overall an enjoyable day but not fabulous
