Warm and cosy in the storm...
These are strange times! With Auckland in total lockdown and restrictions everywhere, we took a chance and booked a holiday here. Very few guests, so some facilities were closed, but all the friendly staff worked to make sure our stay was pleasant. Special thanks to Irihapeti, who looked after us so well. Everything was very clean, and there were protocols to keep us all safe and well. The lovely warm pool was just right, and so were the crystal clear hot pools. Meal choice was a bit less than usual, but there was still plenty of delicious food. With the terrible weather we experienced, we were grateful to have a safe and warm haven to relax and enjoy, and a lovely lake view to look at. And the bed was very comfortable too!
A Nice Place to Stay !
We have just come back from a 4 Night Stay at the Millennium Hotel Rotorua . The Hotel room was nice and clean , the bed was big , the sheets were soft. They were good with having more than the "standard 2 Bath towels " in the bathroom, they had more , which saved me asking for extras . The bathroom was clean and the TV was big . The maintenance staff were very onto it, they quickly replaced 2 light bulbs which had blown in our room after I had requested it . We had a lake view room and it was nice and quiet situated there . The guest laundry at the hotel is open 24 hours . We were there in Winter, and the Hotel was beautiful and warm in all areas ! It was so nice and cosy to come back to the Hotel and know it would be warm ! The Swimming pool is really nice , it is big, clean and is heated , with plenty of towels at the pool area too . The staff were really nice, they all worked well together, and they helped each other out, when required.and without even being asked to help , we saw different staff helping each other out , it seems like a nice team working together , every staff member we talked too, was super nice , friendly and professional . The breakfast was nice, but not much variety compared to other hotels . But in saying that it was most definatly more than adequate and ideal ! Our room was always cleaned before we got back to our room , in the afternoon each day ! Thankyou Millennium Hotel for the great work you do , we will be back again !
To be avoided
Rooms were tired and service less far than to be expected. Breakfast was one bad despite plenty of staff and not that busy. Bar was closed entire time we were there and restaurant closed at 8pm. Housekeeping was knocking on our door before checkout time and In the rush to vacate, I left behind my jacket. When discovered that I had forgotten it, called hotel to ask if they had it. Manager never called me back. Called again next day and no sign of jacket. Hmmmm …. Me thinks someone liked it a lot 🤔 very disappointing stay would not recommend at all
I don't recommend this hotel only if you have no choice and only if you're planning to travel all day and return late at night. We picked that hotel to stay in and relax without running and traveling around. Unfortunately, the website is totally different from the reality. The swimming pool is heated NATURALLY which is not suitable for winter! It was very cold and not attractive for the kids to swim. The pool area is not heated as well (though it's "in door pool") so we couldn't sit and relax even though they're nice sofas around the pool. Spa was with 2 small hot tubs which weren't hot at all (advertising in the web and on the sign next to the pool 39 degree - not even close). There is no separation between the treatment rooms and the hot tubs, so if people sitting there, you will hear them outside talking during your treatment. Breakfast was ok though we had to wait 10 minutes to get a table in the dining room or alternatively we could sit in the pool area - again in the cold. We got a room on the third floor and woke up at 4am to continual machinery noises outside our room and couldn’t go back to sleep since it lasted till 8am (in the reception we were told that's a water pump, frankly I couldn't care less, what and why ..). I did complain to the reception but all I got was "sorry for your bad experience"... really???!!!! I’m so glad it was for one night only. Do yourself a fever and before spending your money on a bad choice call / check the details with friends that what you see is what you get.
Sleepyhead Elegance Beds are the best
Room was a great size. Great lighting over the workspace. Windows that opened for some fresh air if needed. Great air con that warmed the room quickly. Had to request for house keeping to come and attend to an issue in the room and it was promptly remedied. Thank you! Dinner was devine. That lamb shank! Wow. I hope to have that again when i come back. Yum! The waiter was friendly also. But...those beds are a dream. I didn't wake up once and had an incredible and restful sleep. A great stay. Looking forward to my next work trip.
