Stunning & Relaxing
Our first visit to the Resort. Nice location, up the hill in the bush with good parking. Friendly quick in and straight our chalets. Nice views up in the trees, has a very relaxing and warm feel to the rooms. We had both dinner and lunch, the service was great and the food very tasty. We all enjoyed the pool and the surroundings. Unfortunately we missed breakfast - we left early to get back home before Level 3 started in Auckland. Looking forward to being back over Easter.
Listen to the Tuis & Bellbirds.
A great stay for 3 nights in a chalet set in the beautiful NZ bush. The dinning room & lounge were first class with excellent meals available. The staff were very friendly & efficient. The site is very steep with steps up to the chalet we occupied but help was available & a golf cart shuttled us back up the hill after dinner. A wet day would be a challenge with the carpark a long way away. We will return.
We were here just after Christmas January 2021, then they were out of stock of certain wines and food on the menu - Christmas, Covid it’s really not an excuse but take it off the menus and reprint what you DO have!!! Last night for dinner we were yet again disappointed. The menu was underwhelming and 2 of us struck dodgy seafood - oysters & mussels, the staff said they would tell the chef. Thankfully neither of the 2 got sick!!! The fresh bread buns, which Mihi pride themselves in making were average. The seafood platter is certainly NOT worth the money!!! Wait staff took our 1st round of drinks and never came back to replenish our drinks orders at all - BIG mistake!!! However what was good was the rib eye and side salads were outstanding. Sorry we won’t be bs k and don’t be recommending this establishment for dinning Such a shame that Puka park is looking so tired and in need of a revamp all round. Please smarten up your act!!!
Love this place
That was our second visit in two months in a row! This time it was a celebration for my birthday! We are travelling with two kids and understand that it might be difficult sometimes but not for the staff of Grand Mercure. Nothing was too much of a hassle, they made us feel so special and welcome again. Grand Mercure is an amazing property within the bush and very close to the beach as well but what makes it so special is the staff. We would like to specifically mention Briella( we were her very first check in), Selina, Chantell for always being so friendly and smiley and ready to help. Nisha ,who when she is there is second to none:)Mareila who makes everything run so smoothly. ( apologies if some of the names are spelled wrong). We had great time in the restaurant with our French waitress Jeanne , some amazing food, especially the venison that went really well down with a bottle of Merlot that was decanted prior our visit upon our request by the very friendly bartender. Tash and Hazel for being so lovely to our daughters and made us feel like friends of yours. The amazing surprise of the cheese platter in our room and the card from the staff was a heart warming moment for me. The peanut butter dessert is criminally delicious- I think we had half a dozen of that for two days! Highly recommend this place with everything that comes with it!
Excellent stay as usual
Puka Park is my wife and my escape from our usual hectic family life. We love the peaceful bush setting, excellent facilities, great restaurant and friendly staff. Perfect for a relaxing break! We'll be back again and again! Always an excellent experience.
