What to expect
- Sleep Quality

Stayed on a Saturday night. Couldn’t sleep due to neighboring night clubs thumping bass. Everything else was great including service etc from staff but who cares if it’s to noisy to sleep. Delivered ear plugs on request just prior to midnight but not sufficient. Terrible.
Exquisite experience not to be missed.
Accor Sofitel Viaduct Harbour Auckand exceeded our expectations in every way. From start with the valet parking to final checkout we were very impressed. Decor, staff, facilities, food were all superb. Don't miss out the pool and spa areas! We highly recommend experiencing this tranquil oasis in the heart of Auckland.
Still a stunning Hotel
I so love this hotel. Just the best. You always feel welcome. Great rooms, comfy bed. Good gym too. Staff are great. Loved the spa - best massage I ever had from Natalia! And Shane in the cafe? Well he was tops. So eager to please and the maker of great coffee. Id offer him a job but that would mean a big shift south for him lol. All the staff in the cafe are just brilliant. And as for the concierge who loved my Audi RS 4 - he was epic. Have a raved enough? ;-) Big thanks Sofitel. We love everything you do! Z&J
This isn’t a couple retreat!
Sadly we were disappointed. Our initial stay was cancelled due to Covid so we we rebooked for our Xmas break. Positives! The room, while not water facing, was beautiful. The Pool, spa & Gym was one of the best we have seen. The hotel was let down by the services & service. The dinning/bars areas were uninviting. We waited a very long time almost an hr each day for breakfast. While we understood buffet breakfast had been removed, we were given a limited menu, without vegetarian options, or fruit. Pastries were offered every other day, juices were forgotten, we had to ask for water, sugar & salt & pepper! For a 5 star hotel it didn’t meet our expectations. We noticed a tray outside our room during our 4 day stay, after day 4 we discovered it was a plate of half eaten food, which left us a little shocked! While this would be might accommodate a corporate stay, I wouldn’t say or suggest this for a romantic getaway!
Sofitel vs Park Hyatt
Some may find this comparison useful and equally I have written a review regarding my two recent stays at Park Hyatt. We booked a Sofitel Junior Suite for 3 nights from NY Eve and overall we were very pleased. I have wriiten a separate review regarding the hotel's main restaurant La Maree, so for fear of repeating it, I'll not comment on that, just take a look at that but suffice to say, Park Hyatt's main restaurant 'Onemata' was for us a better experience. Pre booking requests - ease and honoured both equally as good. Car valet service - both equally as good. Arrival and greeting - Sofitel easily wins hands down. Professional and gracious, we were sat at a desk and offered a welcome non-alcoholic delicious drink. In addition we were pleasantly surprised by a bottle of champagne for us in the room as a welcome celebration for NY Eve. Unfortunately in my opinion, Hyatt corporate policy is that all staff must wear masks. although I understand, it can be disconcerting and after all in NZ I would have thought that some dispensation could be made. Thankfully Sofitel staff are not required to wear them Environment - for modernity and technical design, Park Hyatt. For style, elegance and luxurious feel, Sofitel. Park Hyatt is nice but more corporate and Americanised in its feel. Sofitel felt cosier, warm and personal. Views - Park Hyatt wins. Both share good locations to reach all local attractions and are very close to each other, however Park Hyatt has full unobstructed views. Housekeeping room service - Sofitel wins, everything always replenished well. Turn down service - Sofitel wins, again water, as well as bathroom items all replenished. Also at Sofitel great attention to detail. Slippers beside bed with a mat, chocolate and card left and a chamomile tea bag is a lovely touch. Of course we are all seeking different things from our hotel experiences. For us, the attention to detail, more personal approach and feeling, in addition to the style and elegance of the Sofitel was for us our preference. That said, the Park Hyatt is new and still embedding its team and systems. In time it may be able to incorporate some of the feel that the Sofitel has from its environment and team.
