Beautifully restored and pleasant staff, but........
However very very noisy. There is a night club next door and it ramps up about 10.30pm. At 11.30pm I was kindly offered another room on a higher floor and was advised if I wanted a quiet hotel not to stay in the CBD, it was a Wednesday night. I used ear plugs and a pill and eventually got some sleep. I couldn’t use the “Happy Hour” or the restaurant as there was a private function. It is a small boutique hotel and the private function took up most of the space for the whole lobby. Very disappointing as the hotel should have let me know in advance that I couldn’t use their restaurant. Sitting in the lobby and having a quiet drink wasn’t an option on this night. Very sad as it is a lovely hotel. Just please let bookings know if you have a function.
Boutique, luxury hotel
We loved the subdued vibe of this boutique hotel, and that the small number of rooms (in comparison to a place like The Cordis) meant that we received personalised service and attention. The hotel has a concierge, who provided us with a complimentary drink upon arrival, and a relaxed check-in experience. The hotel is situated on the main shopping street of Auckland CBD, so parking is off-site. The bathrooms were of a good size, and bathrobes and slippers were provided for use. Our bed was a little on the hard size, though the room was otherwise warm and comfortable. The only two downsides of this hotel was that our validated parking ticket failed to work on two separate occasions, and also there was a bank of air conditioners on the building outside our window that seemed to run all night. It was a level of noise, though, that is to be expected at a city-based accommodation.
Best Hotel in Auckland
This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Auckland to date. The staff were all so lovely, attentive and went above and beyond what was expected of them. I had some surgery done and they were waiting for me when I got back to the hotel to take me to my room and when I woke up, they had made me a get well cake and card! I was not expecting that but it made me feel amazing :) The hotel it’s self is designed extremely well, with all rooms inspired by gemstones and the history of the building. The Art Deco was beautifully done. The valet parking was alright for what they had to work with on Queen Street. The car was always on time when ordered, and Pablo was definitely my favourite worker at the hotel. He was very kind, caring and a very hard worker. The restaurant and bar downstairs are phenomenal! You must try their cocktails, they were out of this world.
Arrived and greeted professionally however on checking in and going to our room, great. However coming downstairs to go to bar only to be told a private function in restaurant which was not told when we checked in. Excepted that however this hotel did not cater for in- house residence.
Celebrated @paultaknz and I's 3rd year anniversary at @hotelgrandwindsornz this weekend. And what a weekend it was! The hotel's interior is beautiful! From the colour palette to the fabric textures and the overall decor, you just cannot fault it. The service was also worth raving about as every single staff we came across was just a delight to deal with. Highly recommend this hotel if you're staying up in Auckland.
