Greeted with cold towels, a cold drink and a warm welcome after a long and rather bumpy drive from Windhoek. Thankfully we were in a 4x4 unlike some of the other guests. The accomodation was delightful, the food delicious and the staff fabulous. This is a must if you are considering visiting the red sand-dunes of Sossusvlei. The Sossusvlei Excursion with Dune Picnic Lunch and visit to the Sesriem Canyon was a great experience albeit tiring. Our guide, Lucas, was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained for the duration (around 10 hours). The outside shower was a dream. I couldn't recommend highly enough.
Wonderful place not to missed !
At arrival, you got a warm welcome by the owner, who also encourage you to talk with the staff ; staff also presented themselves and gave a good feeling all the time. The atmosphere was as good as it just can be. Large common areas, nice pool and a restaurant with a lot of space. Comfortable rooms with one indoor and one outdoor shower. Real good food prepared with love. As a bonus; book 2 nights and you have a guided tour to Soussusvlei included. Can it be better value for money ? I doubt...
Luxury Accommodations in a Remote Desert Setting
This lodge is luxury from the time we entered the property through the gates. Our thatched chalet (1 of 11) offered incredible views of the surrounding desert landscape near the entrance of the iconic Sossusvlei sands-capes. Our chalet had really comfortable beds, an outdoor (and indoor) shower & shaded porch. In the main lodge the furnishing were in keeping with a African lodge. The main dining room had great windows to enjoy the surrounding landscape. The pool setting was really spectacular. We ate breakfast and dinners in the dining room. The offerings were at a minimum but sufficient for our needs. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The best part was that the owner, Thomas, was always around and he could not be more helpful and pleasant.
Superb experience in the desert
We stayed here 2 nights and enjoyed the visit very much. Thomas and his entire staff made it a great experience ... both because of the wonderful landscape and the nice rooms ans great food. Absolutely spectacular was the sundowner at the neighboring mountain - best ever - and of course the day excursion with Lucas to the dunes and Sossusvlay. Absolutely an experience of a life time.
Luxurious Desert Lodge
The room is very spacious with an outdoor sitting porch area. Good to park your car outside. You can even dry your clothes out there for a while. But wind can be very strong and dusty too. At night, you can try star gazing...it's astonishingly beautiful if you switch off your porch lights. There is a separate bath (indoor and outdoor) and toilet, so usage is super convenient. Outside shower is recommended in the summer day time cos you feel so relax showering in the confine of your lodge, with just an open view to see outside where no one will walk by. The dining area is a very beautiful restaurant. Warm ambience and spacious. Food is excellent too. However, wifi is weak there. The hotel lobby is a great place to interact with family, a bar to get your drinks and chill. It's somewhere you will not mind sitting there the whole day, reading a book or just walking around. Beyond the hotel grounds, it's completely remote once again. Thus, it's like a quiet retreat.
