This season’s must-try experiences

Scale a dune

As the sun rises, climb the immense Dune 45 in Sossusvlei, Namibia, to 170-metres high. It’s a tough one to crack but so worth it. Alternatively, photograph Dead Vlei, where the brilliant white flat sand and craggy trees contrast against the burnt-orange shades of the dunes.

Try your hand at rice planting

It’s not something that’s likely to be on your travel wishlist – but we recommend embracing local experiences like this with open arms. A rice planting workshop is a great way to meet local Thais, discover their way of life and learn about ancient Sukhothai farming methods. You get to wear the distinctive outfit, too.

Safari in the sky

If you’ve always wanted to experience a hot-air balloon ride, this is the place to do it. Soar into the sky and watch the sun rise over Kenya’s Maasai Mara, keeping a lookout below for lions, leopards, elephants and buffalo on the open plains.

Spot an endangered whale

The coast of Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to see endangered sperm whales and gigantic blue whales, so ask us about the special whale watching departures on our Sri Lanka Wildlife tour. From the southern tip of this teardrop-shaped island, we’ll arrange for a marine naturalist to take you to all the best locations for a sighting.

Have dinner on a deserted island

Stay on the exclusive island of Maafushivaru in the Maldives and we can arrange dinner on its deserted sister island, Lonubo. Your own chef and waiter will be on hand to cook and serve a five-course meal before leaving you alone to appreciate this surreal and romantic moment under the stars.

Arrive in a helicopter

Saint Lucia’s Twin Pitons create an iconic coastal landscape and you can soar over these volcanic spires, sweeps of golden sand and tiny villages during a helicopter transfer to your hotel. It’s the ultimate way to arrive in style on this Caribbean island, so simply ask us to arrange it.

Play golf on one of the world’s most beautiful courses

Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Course in Mauritius is world-renowned as being one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. On the island setting of Ile Aux Cerfs, this 18-hole, par 72 championship course was designed by golf champion Bernhard Langer; and guests at Long Beach can take full advantage of free green fees.
