Fantastic yoga break
Our second time at this hotel, and the return visit didn't disappoint. We go for the yoga, and that's perfect. The shala fronts on to the beach, and is lined up to the setting sun, making the 5.30 session very special indeed. The sessions are a good mix of challenge and practicing the familiar, and once again we found the brilliant yoga teacher really helped us improve. The hotel is right on a 3km beach, beautiful, and great for walks. While we were there it was pretty deserted. The fishermens market next door adds some interest, and there are local restaurants you could visit - even though we were totally happy with the hotel provision. Breakfast was brilliant, loads of choice, and a fab egg and bread cooking bar. The msemen were amazing! Dinner was nice and varied - we went half board, but weren't too restricted. Lots of local cuisine, as well as more european stuff. And the Moroccan wine was pretty good. Our waiters were great - and the welcome was fantastic. There is also surfing - and a neat beach bar with a nightly fire. I really hope we go back again.
Great Place solo traveller friendly
My second time travelling alone, this place is beautiful and very well thought out, it’s a premium place and feels high end. It caters for all types of travellers solos family etc... The food is amazing all cooked fresh and in view in restaurant 27. The food is fresh and tasty the menu changes each day or the menu of the day does hats off to the chefs. Prices for drinks and food are very reasonable £5 for a quality glass of red and you can have a 3 course meal for just over £20 Staff are great although I did feel a few stares from young waiters which made me feel a little uncomfortable especially as a woman travelling alone. I’m not sure if that was because of my transfers to the hotel (transfer organised by hotel) when I got out the cab he did this weird thing and ticked the palm of my hand) when I googled it it’s very sexually suggestive. It made me feel very uncomfortable. From that point I was very aware of all of the culture difference and their possible impression on western women. This is likely an unfair assumption based on the actions of one man but I did feel uncomfortable. And hope he isn’t picking me up To take me back! The spa was the highlight of my trip a special shout out to the lady who works on the reception of the spa. She was lovely, all treatments were fantastic and priced reasonably. I had a treatment everyday! My room was lovely and was beyond my expectation and I had an entry lever junior suite with a sea view. Nothing was too much trouble I would like to commend on the service and the attentiveness of its staff. I ordered a club sandwich one lunch time and it appeared I swear in 2 mins. This hotel is very well run, it’s sophisticated and it’s beautifully decorated, Would I stay again ? 100% yes in fact It’s set the standard now and I think it will be hard to beat. Thank you for an amazing trip I feel very relaxed and have enjoyed my stay
it's definitely not 5 star standard
I made the reservation because of the good review but in fact there are mamy minus also. Breakfast is not variety - after couple of days there is no choise. Staff is not helpfull. We decided to change the hotel because the swimmimg pool is cold - and there is no information that heated is not working but the staff said that will not give our many back. There is no information about problem with swimmimg pool on website. Also jacuzzi was dirty and nobody wants to use it. The area near the pool and baech is beautiful and cozy. I love it. Also joga place but I Do not recommend book this hotel in winter period.
Another year in Paradise
This is now our sixth visit in this hotel and we absolutely love it as a family gateway. Great combo and yoga in a chilled and beautiful background. The staff is very friendly and professional with very low turnover so good to see familiar faces one year after the other (including Karsten, the wonderful yoga teacher as well as the spa manager). This speaks to the quality of management to train and retain their team. We see little details improving too. Hot water in the shower used to be a problem in previous years and this has now been completely fixed. Thanks to the entire team for making out stay so pleasant.
We visited this place in late December as a family. Based on several reviews and ratings my expectations were very high. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't live up to it on several fronts. The room was spacious but it had an odd smell, and the bed was not very comfortable. Definitely not 5 star like. The pillows were very hard, but we later on got them replaced. The food was average at best, including the breakfast buffet, and service was inconsistent. The pool area isn't really well looked after. The loungers are old, some of the umbrellas are broken, and it's definitely not 5 star standard. Also, the pool was very cold even though it was supposed to be heated. The beach is average at best and not very clean. It can also not be considered private with plenty of camels and horses and locals offering rides. The area with the loungers on the beach is just sad. The yoga studio is beautiful and so are the sunsets that can be observed from there. We had one yoga lesson, and it was fine although the class was too packed and there was not enough space to practice. The most annoying thing was the compulsory New Year's gala at about 140 USD (1400 Dirham) per head and 70 USD per child which seems outrageous in any case. In fact, we were not aware that it was compulsory even though it is true that there was a note written at the end of our booking confirmation. This was easy to miss, and we were surprised when we were told in no uncertain terms that it was compulsory, and that even if we decided not to attend we would be charged. In fact, we had planned to spend the evening with friends in Agadir, but reception staff and management was adamant we would have to pay no matter what. We eventually negotiated to only pay for two adults and not for our 6 year old. The actual gala dinner was average at best. The buffet only opened at 9pm, much of the food was cold with he exception of the things from the grill where the queue was obviously long. The quality of the food was average, and drinks were not included, not even water. Definitely not worth the money! It felt like a complete rip-off. I would have never chosen this hotel if it was clear from the moment of the booking that we would need to pay for the gala dinner. My brother in law booked this hotel for his family later this year and I strongly advised him to cancel as it does not live up to the standard it promises. I would never return to this hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt Place just a few kilometers away earlier that weekz and it was a beautiful experience. The gala there was optional and would have cost less by the way.
