Whether it's the pure, crisp silver or the oaky, aged gold, there's tequila variety to suit everyone's palate. But isn't just about the shooters - it's so much more than salt, lemon or lime.

From a new spin on the classic margarita to a Mexican influenced Cosmo recipe, here are five tequila cocktails to make sure your holiday drink lasts longer than a shot…

 

Acapulco

Ingredients

  • 50ml white rum
  • 15ml triple sec
  • 15ml lime juice
  • 1 tsp sugar syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • Mint leaves

1. Shake the liquid ingredients well with ice and strain into a lowball glass,

2. Garnish with mint leaves.

  • 35ml tequila
  • Dash of grenadine
  • 20ml lime juice
  • 1 egg white
  • Cherry

1. Shake liquid ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass.

2. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve.

 

Amor A La Mexicana

 Ingredients

  • 50ml Kahlua
  • 20ml vanilla liqueur
  • 20ml silver tequila
  • 1 tsp sugar syrup
  • 100ml milk
  • Nutmeg
 

Amor A La Mexicana recipe

1. Mix all ingredients with ice

2. Pour all ingredients over ice and garnish with nutmeg sprinkle.

 

Banana Margarita

 Ingredients

  • 50ml silver tequila
  • 50ml lemon juice
  • 25ml Cointreau
  • 25ml banana liqueur
  • ½ a banana
 

Aztec recipe

1. Rim a margarita glass with salt.

2. Add all ingredients to a blender with ice and blend until smooth.

2. Pour into margarita glass.

 Ingredients

  • 50ml tequila gold
  • 25ml Cointreau
  • Splash of lime juice
 

Cosmoquila recipe

1. Shake ingredients with ice, strain into a martini glass and serve.
