When you think you were asking for a place to relax you can’t find a better place than Paradisus Playa del Carmen Specially in Covid times All safety biohazards are taking care with strict protocols for all the employees: all are wearing PPE and before you are coming to a restaurant your temperature is being taken Heads down to Reanu in La Palapa ... he must be one of the best employees at Paradisus: smiles , service and excellence Thank you for one of the best experiences while traveling around the world ...

Booked La Perla got Esmeralda- Vacation was still amazing!
I don't normally write reviews but in consideration of all of the confusion and some people upset about the "merger" of the two hotels I wanted to jump on here and give some insight. First of all, no merger has really happened (yet). The La Perla side is completely closed! How it reopens still is to be determined. It will most likely be open to families too until the demand for adults only returns. I spoke to many staff and whether or not they go back to having a separate Adults only area is really unknown. It is my understanding that once it does open they will be designating areas for the adults and once occupancy/demand for adult areas they will add expand more adult areas. Everyone and businesses need to adapt in order to make it thru these times so I'm not mad at Paradisus that I didn't get my adult only vacation I booked. We could have canceled but instead made the best of a crappy covid situation. Yes I hope they go back to the way it was but I also understand. We booked this vacation back in December pre-COVID at the La Perla side for our anniversary. Yes I was a little bummed when I initially found out they weren't opening the adult side for my stay but our vacation was still amazing! I had been working closely with my reservations agent Liliana Lopez (from Paradisus) who I just want to give a big shout out to. She went above and beyond! She answered all of my multiple emails throughout these last few months every time I would see info on social media pages. She was quick to clarify and many times debunk what was being said. Yes the La Perla side is closed and we were moved to the Family side but not only were we upgraded to an amazing Suite but being on the "family side" just wasn't an issue. The adult pool on the La Perla side was open for our use but in the 6 days we were there we only went once and mostly just to check it out. There are exclusive areas for adults also on the beach. In the evenings kids are sleep so they aren't wondering the common area halls or bars. So sharing just wasn't an issue to us. There were hardly any people at the resort so to be honest it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever to have both sides open or even all of the restaurants. IMO During our stay there were not only just a few people there but the ones that were there were families. From a financial aspect what they have done to consolidate makes complete sense! No one wants to see them go under. Since several of the restaurants weren't open we still had no problem ordering off menu, all you have to do is ask! Every single staff member went out of their way to accommodate us. MBAR closed, another bummer but I had no problem getting my favorite cucumber martini at the other bars. The restaurants did rotate menus from the closed restaurants so there was always a variety. We ordered room service several times because it was amazing and pool side food even better. We didn't have one bad meal. Only downfall was the in room beverage situation. Refrigerator is not stocked daily we had to go to Olio and pick up our drinks/snacks for day, order from room service or have butler deliver them. Which was okay until it was 11 p.m. & you realize you drank last water and there is absolutely no where to get one because hotel is a ghost town. Hopefully as capacity changes so does some of these little issues. This is a crazy time we are all living in and everyone including Paradisus is just trying to cope and modify things so people can get back to work and vacation. No one knows how long this pandemic is going to last and when things will be normal again. Traveling during these times is going to be different no matter where you go. My single and only complaint isn't about Paradisus, it is directed specficially to MELIA! They have yet to make a formal announcement on any of their social media outlets as to what is going on which leads to so much speculation! I would have been extremely mad if I had shown up thinking I'm staying at La Perla and then get moved. I only found out via fan page a month or so ago. I would definately go back again as Paradisus Playa is superior to any hotel we've been to. Staff, Service and food is top notch! I probably will wait til I have access to all of the restaurants and outdoor activities though because you can only sit by pool/beach to eat and drink for so long. Thank you Paradisus for giving us a great vacation given the circumstances.
Restaurants at Paradisus Playa DelCarmen La Esmerelda during Covid
Our family dining experiences during Covid could have been hindered but it wasn’t thanks to the amazing staff at Paradisus La Esmerelda. Restaurant dining was restricted to 2 main locations but each menu from ALL the restaurants was still available different nights of the week (2 choices per night). The entire management (Marissa) and wait staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND from the tables we sat at to the drinks we were served. Our sommelier Erick catered to us daily and many of the wait staff who remembered our teenage kids drink selections daily. Thank you!!!
