Honeymoon in times of COVID-19
We booked this resort for our honeymoon and to go scuba diving. Here's the highlights: Rooms - Room was clean and great service but the air conditioning was weak and could not get the room below 76 degrees F at night. This made it a bit more difficult to sleep although you will adapt throughout your stay. The WiFi sign in process didn't work well on the phone, kicked you off about every 20-30 minutes and required signing in all over (takes about 30 seconds). Food - Breakfast and lunch were buffet style only. Food choice was pretty good, but the quality wasn't. Eventually we ended up eating at the snack bar for lunch to get better quality food. Dinner was great to fantastic at every available restaurant with the only exception being the Asian-style restaurant. My wife is Filipina and suffice it to say that the food wasn't up to her standard for Asian cuisine. Service was top-notch everyone was very friendly and helpful. Drinks were amazing and very available. Staff pushed trying to get you to schedule a time to view their timeshare opportunities. They wanted to give you a small gift and then get you to sign up - common sales tactic so don't fall for this trick. We didn't have time and weren't interested, but got approached at least daily about signing up by different staff members.
This resort is amazing! Wonderful wildlife, activities, beach, location, and friendly staff! The good was mediocre as a vegetarian, however besides that everything was great! Very happy with the service provided.
Jose Luis chi pina looks after us very well in the main buffet, very nice man will do anything to ensure that you are happy with your service and food, he is very pleasant polite and friendly and an asset to occidental xcaret
My husband and I went recently for our anniversary trip and had a great time. Despite a rainy weather forecast, we ended up having great weather. It is generally very humid, frizzy hair alert! There is a lot of walking involved with this hotel, the hotel buildings are numbered and it might be quite a trek from your hotel building to the main area. There is a little tram that takes people to and from the little bay area every 15 min. The staff were mostly pleasant and accommodating. The employees are always wearing their masks appropriately and doing their best to clean and disinfect everything. The food was so-so, typical buffet food served in the main buffet area for breakfast and lunch. The restaurants are a little weird, not much atmosphere, and food is mediocre and comes in very small portions. All of the soda tastes like diet. The tacos are authentic, not what we are used to as Americans. The boat ride to the nearby Xcaret park is convenient, but sadly, there is no ride back after the park closes (last boat at 4 PM i believe) and after walking in the park all day your feet will be sad that there is no boat ride back haha. The beach is not a real beach, more of a little bay, but the water is a beautiful color and the light waves are soothing. Stay away from the employees trying to get you involved in a time share or a royal club upgrade, tell them you are busy and don't have time to hear any speeches. The pools are clean, beautiful bright blue, good swim up bar with delicious frozen drinks. The rooms are nice and clean, housekeeping does a fantastic job. The bedding is a little weird because they give you like 5 sheets but no blanket. If you wake up early you will be able to feed monkeys on your patio! Beware of having the water (ice cubes, soup) the Mexican water can be a little rough on the tummy. Overall a nice place, would return in the future.
Awesome service and amenities
I loved staying here! I don't speak spanish, but everyone spoke English (at varying levels) so we were able to communicate easily. The staff was very friendly and the hotel/amenities/rooms were very clean. Everything closes a little early right now (probably due to covid) so that was kind of annoying. But overall FANTASTIC!
