Stunning is an understatement
Wow!!! What a stunning resort with fabulous facilities, very helpful & friendly staff... $$$$$ as far as food/restaurants go, but still delicious. There were times when not another person was in sight...but it currently is winter! Still beautiful & warm though Picture perfect beach...but a little rough on the feet (these princess feet are use to the powdery sands of Australian beaches) Truly a great resort!
The best hotel/resort I have ever stayed in!
Mauritius is the most beautiful island, with the nicest people - and the St Regis is the best of Mauritian luxury and hospitality. I stayed here with my 2 friends and we had the best holiday ever. The hotel overall is gorgeous - the buildings, the gardens, the pool, the interiors, everywhere is exceptionally beautiful. Firstly our room - it was huge! It was in the main building on the first floor - room 107. The balcony overlooking the front of the hotel, the pool and the sea was big enough for a huge sofa, double lounging bed, armchairs and 2 tables. I watched the sunset from here a couple of times - it was heavenly. The room had a lounge area with a TV, sofa, etc and a bedroom area with a massive four poster bed. They put in a single bed for me so I didn’t have to sleep on the sofa. The bathroom had 3 washbasins (perfect for 3 ladies), 2 massage tables, a huge bath, shower room, loo and dressing room. Honestly, I have never had a room like it - I felt like a VIP! The restaurants - 5 of them - we loved them all, but not the Indian so much (so we only went there once). The Floating Market was our favourite for dinner - and we thanked the chef, Vam, on our first night night. He is Vietnamese, and my friend told him she loves Vietnamese food - so he cooked us a special meal the following night (it was fabulous) and we were treated like royalty. My friends had a cookery lesson to learn how to make sushi on our last day, and again he cooked us a special meal that evening. Thank you Vam - you will be a very famous chef one day! The Boathouse is the best place for lunch where you have a more relaxed menu (still excellent food) and you’re practically on the beach (in fact there are some tables actually on the beach). Yes, you pay for water and drinks, but they are reasonably priced and our bill at the end of the week was reasonable. The champagne reception with the manager was a red carpet treat! We took a boat trip to see dolphins - and yes, we saw them. That was so special, and quite emotional. I’ve been on loads of boat trips to find dolphins and never seen them before. There were pedaloes and other water sport equipment, all free of charge. The Last, but by no mean least - the staff. OMG - they were sooo lovely. They all made us feel really special. I made a list of the names I remember but I haven’t got everyone and they all are the best! Every one of them greeted us if they passed us, and their service was impeccable. I will never forget briefly sitting on the edge of a sunbed to wait for my friends when one young man came and offered to clean my sunglasses, while another brought me a glass of prosecco and another brought me a towel! (this must be what it’s like to be rich and famous!) So - Levi (my new adopted son), Avinash (my friend’s new adopted son), Smitesh (restaurant manager), Jane (butler), Desiree (concierge, gave us so much help organising our flights, our trips out, with great care for our safety and enjoyment), Dimitri and Rakesh (who offered us the amazing room in the house), Sherman (our driver on all our day trips), Nicolas (waiter who we called the ‘ice cream man') Selvin (the head waiter who organised a special breakfast table in the garden for us, and plied us with mimosas on our last morning)- I wish I remembered all your names, but I will always remember your kindness, friendliness, impeccable service and your lovely smiles. I’m off to work today today to save up to come see you all again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Good, noch outstanding
Amazing beach. one of the best on the Island Service/employees are very nice. In particular, waiters and Kids Club personell is outstanding. Only the front desk is unfortunately incompetent and not very guest friendly. Restaurants are good, but again noch as good as I would expect in this league. Setting other than beach Restaurant is disappointing, since no sea view. However, we will come again despite the Problems: our daugther loves the Kids club and we the beach….
Excellent vacation at St Regis
We stayed in St Regis for 8 days for our honeymoon. The service is really excellent with warm-hearted staff and various equipment . They have a butler service which can help you everything you need. Beach-boys are always at your service if you need towels and drinks. They are willing to talk to you. We remember a boy named Axel. He was so nice that we chatted several times and passed very good moment on the beach. Besides, the concierge call help you book one-day trip or any other contact. There are lot of entertainments provided by the hotel. All non-motorised watersports are free, such as kayak. We booked a boat visit with glass bottom. It was really cool to see the creatures of Indian Ocean. Besides, there is a free gym which is accessible 24/24h. A tennis court is available but you have to pay the tennis ball. The gym also lends free bikes for 3 hours. We took a ride for 16km to get to the nearest city La Gaulette, where you have supermarket and souvenir shops. We also visited the Slavery Monument which is 1 km from the hotel. It was interesting to learn the history of Le Morne. There is a Spa Iridium, we tried its Yoga class on the beach which is really relaxing. By the way, you can also use steamed room or jacuzzi on reservation. For family with children, there is a baby-sitting service and an entertainment zone for the children. You can also try the drawing room with ping-pong, chess and video games. As for the restaurants, you have 5 choices. 4 restaurants are complimentary if you take the dinner option. The Japanese restaurant Astuko is supplementary, but you get 25% off if you take the lunch and dinner option. I really like the Asian restaurant Floating market that proposed duck leg, Korean chicken etc. The French and Mauritian restaurant Le Manoir is excellent. I tried several fish and tasty lemon pie. There is a Mauritian buffet every Tuesday evening. We even met the Italian Executive Chef at the restaurant! The Indian restaurant Simply India is also good, but it seems that my stomach doesn't adapt to the Indian food :(. For lunch, you have boatgrill house which provides all kinds of barbecue, fresh fishes, burgers and pizzas. The restaurant is on the beach. It was really agreeable to have lunch near the sea. For information, all the drinks include water is not complimentary in the restaurant, We asked for a junior suite which is on the 1st-floor, because I simply don't like ground floor. The room is very big with a nice bathroom, a dressing and a balcony. You have a see view from the balcony which is really cool! The room cleaning service comes normally in the morning and again during your dinner. You got a plate of fruit for the first-day arrival as well. You have three bottles of water for free everyday and other optional room services on the menu. What's more, you have a dedicated butler that you can ask for help at any moment you want. We also ask for a photo session around 30 mins provided by the hotel. You got a printed photo for free and the others are optional but you have to pay. The photographer did really a good job and we really appreciated his service. They made a slide project for us. We bought our photos which are an unforgettable moment. We have chance to talk with the General Manager of the hotel. He is really easy-going and willing to talk to clients! It makes us even more appreciate the hotel. In conclusion, for people who want to have a relaxed stay, I really recommend St Regis. We stayed in hotel for nearly 5 days, we tried nearly all types of services. It was very enjoyable. As it's far from the north and east coast, I don't think it's suitable for people who wants to do excursion every day. I think I will come back to St Regis in the near future for my vacation with my family.
BEAUTIFUL PEACEFUL RESORT
Our family had a memorable stay at St Regis mauritius. Room Our room was beach facing villa. What a huge room- its exactly beach facing & view was incredible for sunsets & vast ocean. Our room was on first floor which we had requested during booking itself & it was fulfilled without any hiccups. Huge Bathroom with huge tub , Large comfortable king bed & sofa bed for child(that was also huge) & large balcony. I would recommend to book this room - you will not be disappointed. Property: It's a big property with 5 restaurants, one big swimming pool & one small swimming pool , library, lawn tennis, spa, private cinema hall & indoor games too. One cannot get bored here as many options are there for recreation.Everything is maintained very well. Beach: St Regis has unique location- one side you have vast stunning ocean & other side a huge Le morne Mountain. Cannot be explained in words...the evening view is mesmerizing.. They have a vast beach with ample beach chairs, even if the whole hotel is booked- all can have beach chairs & it is spread from one end to another- so at any time u don't feel crowded on beach. Only drawback is sand at le Morne is sharp as it is made of broken corals ( its Nature - cannot blame St Regis) - Advise to use water shoes when in ocean as the ocean though very clear- sea urchins , coral , fishes are there in abundance. The sand in North Mauritius is very soft. Staff: We were very impressed with St Regis staff. We would give 6 stars to this resort- additional star for the staff. What an amazing service they have given us. Truly they understand hospitality. As we had special demand for Vegetarian jain food- while check in only we had a meet with the Chef, they noted our requirements & from next day all was served accordingly. We did not face any issues in anything including food. A big Thank You to all staff ( Few names i remember)- Mr Amit, Mr Selwyn, CHEF- Mr Swapnil, Mr Manneram for desserts chef, Ms Shalini for looking after us. I would specially Thank Mr Kamto at the Indian Restaurant- he was our star as he looked after us & seen to that anyday we do not go hungry , as the whole restaurant staff had fulfilled our demand for Vegetarian Jain Food which we were skeptical before going. They had fulfiled our demand for eggless pastries as well, which we really appreciate. Mr Kamto offered us daily different signature mocktails & desserts which were yummy... Also , we specially like to thank Ms Karen ( at reception) who personally came us to see off on our departure till our Taxi, that was indeed very touching Big Thank You to Mr Dimitrios Kotsifakos who also met us personally - inquiring about our stay & if we face any issues . He is very jovial. The cleaning staff for our room & beach staff were also very co-operative. Sorry as i do not remember all names of the staff, but i will advise anyone to go blindly for this property - you will not be disappointed in terms of service which is very important for this type of holidays... Keep it up St Regis. We will surely come back.
