Le Touessrok - amazing as ever
Outstanding location, staff, management and atmosphere. Family friendly but also lovely for couples (have been there as that honeymoon couple and also as parents). Never want to leave and will be back for our fifth visit in 2021.
After buying my dad a two night stay for his birthday at your resort - I decided to visit with the family. We had an amazing stay! We stayed for 2 nights. The place as well as the staff are just fantastic and you can feel here the very special Shangri-La hospitality. Please send my thanks to the noddle men (Forgot his name) - Might be ritchy & to haresh for their Professionalism 1 note - Please get ride of the 500rs tray charge - Prices for food are already on the $$$$ pricey end. Not that we can't afford to pay for it but, thinking how much you paying for the room itself it should be included. We will be back for sure :) Cheers
Fantastic holiday could not have been bettered
I can honestly say that after travelling the world most of my adult life now in my 70s this hotel is the best thought out regarding accomodating a large number of guests but making every one of them feel special also making the whole place feel intimate and not just a large sprawling area with 5 star service my holiday was like spending the whole time in a small intimate boutique hotel with service that could not have been better
We arrived at this hotel 13 March,& stayed until 23 March. During what was a difficult time world wide due to Covid-19 we were very well looked after by the staff and management. We stayed in the frangipani wing where the rooms are amazing, it was our wedding anniversary and we arrived back to the room to a bootle of champagne a card and our bed decorated. Nothing was too much trouble and any request was greeted with a smile. Due to the island lockdown we were unable to leave the hotel and were worried but the staff and their families moved in to look after us and to ensure our safety and week being. We hope to return to this hotel in the not too distant future Thank you to all the staff & management
Outdated property with poor service
Stayed 2 days in the Junior Suite Hibiscus Ocean View King. First impression of the resort was great. The property is beautiful, there's an excellent gym and we loved the view from our room. The rooms however are outdated, especially the bathroom. There seems to also be some sort of issue with isolation in rooms? The AC creates constant water condensation on the windows and floor, making the the floor very slippery and obstructing the view from the window. This is not unusual in tropical destinations, but I have never experienced it on this level. We noticed the same thing on many windows (likely the ones that were occupied and had AC on). Seems to be an issue of poor isolation. We found service as the biggest weakness in the resort. It is to be expected and very normal for resort staff to apologise if mistakes have been made. In Shangri-La's Le Touessrok Resort the staff does not own up to their mistakes and gets defensive instead. This happened to us in more than one instance. For example, after being shown to our room, a senior housekeeping member entered our room without knocking. He was clearly surprised to find us there. He clearly thought the room is still unoccupied and wanted to show it to another housekeeping member. Instead of apologising for entering without knocking he went on to lecture us that we had to close the balcony door right now or turn the aircon off in a very unfriendly manner. We had just opened it to have a look at the balcony. This resort is NOT VEGAN FRIENDLY. Three restaurants, none offering vegan dishes/menu. Upon checkin, we wanted to make a reservation at the Indian restaurant as it is the only one that has a dedicated vegetarian menu, but the restaurant was not open that day. We then tried making reservation at the Japanese restaurant as we found a few side dishes we could order there, but the restaurant was fully booked because the Indian restaurant was closed. We then consulted staff as the third restaurant had meat buffet and we had no options for dinner really. The chef we talked to did not seem to have any idea what vegan means. After explaining him, he was thinking for a second and asked if chicken or seafood is fine? After long discussion on the phone, he promised to make us a two vegan dishes, served at the buffet restaurant and charged as two vegan mains, this was agreed with both the dining/reception desk agent and the chef and reconfirmed upon us entering. What we got was entirely random - a sauteed onion in a gravy (yeah just the onion!) and what seemed to be a can of red kidney beans in tomato sauce… On top of lousy food experience they brought us the bill for the meat buffet. We were told by the waiter that this is how they decided to charge it, we requested to speak to the manger who informed us that he makes the rules and he decided to charge like this. After a long discussion he agreed to uphold the initial agreement but acted as this was our mistake and they are doing us a favour for changing the bill, making it the worst dinner experience we ever had. Again they did not own up to their mistake and blamed the guest. The whole process was very unprofessional, and left a very bad impression of the resort and their hospitality. These were just examples, the failing service did not end there however and extended to virtually non-existent beach service. Overall, the resort property is nice, but the whole experience has a very “package touristy” feel. The rate they are charging does not go together with the service offered and the outdated rooms. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
