Constance Prince Maurice
Constance Prince Maurice, indeed it was a princely experience. At the moment you step into resort, you can sense the uniqueness, quality and guest oriented service. The hotel structure is of one in its own and its staffs complements the rest. Each restaurant has a different cuisine which leaves you with a range of selection. The housekeeping team does everything to ensure that you can enjoy the comfort of the suites. A big thanks to Akshada and Yash for guiding us through the check-in process and always assisting us with our queries during our stay.
Relaxing stay in a great hotel
We have recently returned from a fabulous visit to the Constance Prince Maurice, without doubt one of the best hotels we have stayed at. We found it to be the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hotel buildings and grounds are beautifully kept, with lots of hidden corners and stunning views to enjoy - not only of the white sand, turquoise waters and the tropical gardens, but also the tranquil Barachois fish reserve. Watching the sunset from the floating bar was a definite highlight. We enjoyed the food in all of the restaurants - at lunchtime we chose to eat at our sun-loungers on the beach, enjoying the stunning view and fresh breezes. A particular dinner highlight was a special Indo-Mauritian menu, delicate and beautifully presented. All our evening meals were a la carte - the only buffet we encountered was at breakfast, and very good the breakfast was too. Drinks in the bars and restaurants were on the pricier side, though perhaps that is only to be expected. The hotel facilities were also very impressive - I don’t think I have seen a smarter looking pedalo! We took a ride in the glass bottomed boat and saw plenty of fish and sea urchins, as well as various corals, though sadly many are bleached. The lap pool, designated as a quiet area, was perfect for peaceful swimming and I enjoyed the aqua gym class. We ran out of time before we had borrowed the hotel bicycles - perhaps next time! Last but certainly not least, the staff were all fantastic. From check-in with Yash, to Lorenzo at the pool/beach, and Roger the sommelier in the restaurant, to name just a few, the staff were all friendly, helpful and skilled. They made our stay extremely enjoyable and truly one to remember. Thank you!
The WOW factor at Prince Maurice
I make no apologies for writing another review of this magnificent hotel, which we have been visiting almost yearly for the last 10 years. Two examples stand out from our recent visit - a comment was made by a repeat visitor to a newcomer ‘at Prince Maurice everything is perfect’; I also saw as another newcomer entered the lobby, passed the water feature and looked to the infinity pool and the view beyond, took it all in and said ‘Wow’. The fact is that after 10 years we also still say the same thing. It is a beautifully designed hotel, so well laid out with so many lovely views, the grounds immaculately kept, making everything calming peaceful and relaxing. The suites and villas are beautifully kept, as ever, and the food continues to be to the highest standards in all 3 restaurants. Is it perfect? It is not; the hotel will say that, and they are happy to receive constructive criticism because they strive to be the best. We see improvements put in place, and next year there will be more. They regularly remind us, ‘when you are happy, we are happy’. And the staff? By now we know many of them personally, and are ‘welcomed home’ each year. However, the same pleasant professional and caring attention is given to everyone by all departments. It is for this reason that this time we will not single out anybody whether on the front line or at the back of house. All strive to make the visit memorable. For this special birthday year, we enjoyed a candlelight meal on the beach, and lunchtime meals as well, as well as other special treats. We also enjoyed the visit to the wine cellar. Many heartfelt thanks to Monsieur Plantier and everyone at Le Prince Maurice for another wonderful visit. The downsides? There has been a distinct significant increase in room rates in recent years, and complimentary golf has now become chargeable. This has contributed to a much lower room take-up. The Directors need to take a close and serious look at their pricing policy, before the hotel becomes unaffordable. Many thanks also to Susie Freeman Travel for organising our trip once again. Susie knows just about every hotel on the island, and regularly visits, so that through personal knowledge she can offer a bespoke holiday to meet your needs and pocket. P.s. to avoid producing a huge review this has been rather an overview. Many other reviews give detailed features.
