We travelled in June 2019 to Meeru Island from Oslo, Norway. We stayed at Meeru for 6 days, and had a wonderful stay with the nice staff at Meeru aswell. They offer good food, many activities and wonderful service. We got upgraded to the first two nights in a Water Willa, and the next 3 night in the Water Front Willa at the beach. Both accomodations were excellent! We played golf, tennis, watersports, snorkeling, and relaxed in the lovely sun. At Meeru you get a great variety of food wich is for everybody, both local food and international food. We recommend this place to everyone. We used Qatar Airways from Oslo to Male, aprox. 13-14 hours with a short stop at Doha. I will for sure travel back one time!
Indeed, a little paradise of the Maldives!
My partner and I had 3-night experience at Meeru. It was the main highlight of our 8-day trip to the Maldives last February 2020. Now listen to me, do not contemplate any longer, just go for the Jacuzzi Water Villa, you will thank me later! With approximate 915 square feet in term of size, this villa suspended over the turquoise lagoon is perfect for ocean lovers and romance. Needless to say, and without a doubt the best part of our villa was our own veranda! With direct access to the sea, morning and evening dips are few steps away. I am a morning person and there is no better way to start the day other than jumping in for a morning dip. Also, imagine yourself with your loved one enjoying that cold beer whilst watching different types of marine creatures swimming around the lagoon. Over the entire stay in our villa, we saw several types of marine creatures. The villa comes together with the jacuzzi at the rear side, perfect for stargazing at night, which we did twice during our entire stay. Our bathroom and toilet were spacious and partially outdoor. The super king-sized bed was extremely comfortable. Hope it helps!
*The Resort is simply amazing. Serene Beach and Excellent Spacious Rooms. Experienced both beach villa and watervilla. Liked the buffet. *Just remember they charge some 30usd per hour late checkout after 12pm.
Worn out resort with great F&B
We were shocked by the standard of the overwater villa. It was worn out and lacked TLC. We downgraded to a beach view villa because we couldn’t see the point of paying the amount for overwater villa with missing amenities and shabbiness. One resort representative, Jenny, was genuinely concerned by our disappointment and went above and beyond upgrading our beach villa. I was shocked that after receiving an email a day after arrival asking our first impression and providing low scores that we never heard from the general manager, which says a lot about the resort. The only upside of the resort, is that the food and alcoholic package is worth it and the quality is really amazing, the chefs at the restaurant beemed with pride with the food they were serving and it was obvious they are concerned about quality. The chef, Fonseca, at Hot Rock Restaurant, was concerned about the quality of our meal so he came out and apologized and remade it. However in the end, we wouldn’t return and would not use this resort company again when we return to Maldives.
Overall a fantastic holiday
We was very lucky to be there,because it was the start of the lockdown of Corona virus, not many guests and as the time went on there was fewer and fewer guests,some days we had the swimming pool to ourselves and the buffet restaurant onlyhad a handful of guests ..sad to say there was no entertainment..which was understandable.. Asian Wok and Hot Rock restaurants is a must..amazing food and out of this world service.. The island itself is beautiful, snorkeling with the stingrays, turtles and baby reef sharks. Our beach villa was a good size comfortable beds, excellent aircon the mini bar was very much appreciated. The bathroom we had complimentary body wash and shampoo, towels were soft..we also had beach towels too.. Our room boy was not so good though, had to ask if we can have clean bed sheets after the 7th night being there.he was also slap dash in cleaning our bathroom too.. we also found our waiter favoured the guests that tipped every night..than ourselves give a large tip at the end of our holiday..when he asked us a question like how was your day?? As we was chatting to him , he was looking around the restaurant like he was bored or looking for the other guests that tipped.. saying that one night he stopped half way servicing us with our drinks and went off to pull chairs out for these guests to sit on.. when I asked can I help myself to my drink please, he flipped his hand at me..lol that told me off.. after that he didn't get a large tip from us. I don't tip for rudeness.. The bar staff was amazing, helpful and very polite.. kept apologising that there was no entertainment. We did understand. I would like to say a really Big Thank you to the reception staff for sorting our flights home for us.. because we had to cut short our holiday because of the Corona virus lockdown and not many planes were flying back to England. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and we definitely recommend this beautiful island..
